Got my pathfinder back and everything is working fine (except tachometer and a/c current) and im currently working on the "break in" process. However, today the transmission just wont take 4th gear and I dont think overdrive is working either, but O/D light does turn on and off. All other gears work perfect with no slipping and transmission fluid is fine.

Any help to fix this asap??

Also, pics and vid of light throttle "breaking it in"

Looking nice! The white/black contrast looks great.

Did you check the fluid level properly as described in the FSM / general info thread? I can't watch the video right now (in class). What fluid type is in there now? Has the transmission been upgraded with a shift kit?

I used pennzoil automatic transmission fluid. Could it really be lack of fluid even if all other gears are working fine. How many quarts are needed to fill?

Total fluid capacity is approximately 9 quarts.

With your turbo and shift kit (IIRC you have one, right?) I really would suggest synthetic ATF. Amsoil ATF should be great. I also highly recommend installing an auxiliary transmission cooler in-line with the stock cooler as well as an in-line Magnefine filter. I have both of these on my Pathfinder and I never go off-road and rarely tow anything.

If the fluid level is not checked properly according to steps in the factory service manual, your fluid might be under or overfilled, so check that first.

Got it thanks. But is not grabbing 4th gear only related to not enough transmission fluid?

It's possible, I'll take a look at the FSM later for other possible causes.

Ok. Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Since overdrive is not working and neither is 4th gear, does the overdrive = 4th gear or does it control the 4th gear? Maybe its the overdrive solenoid?

You are correct re: 4th gear and overdrive. It's one and the same.
I'm no transmission expert, but it sounds like you just have an overdrive issue, as opposed to an overall transmission problem.
And.....just out of curiosity, what are you "breaking in"?

New internals (low compression pistons and rods). A possible cause may be that current is not reaching the overdrive. Same issue with a/c. Hopefully it will be fixed asap :(

Page AT-85 of the FSM, No Up Shift -> Failure to change gear from D3 to D4 has a list of more possible causes. Try to rule those out as best as you can.

This. It really is one of the best R50's on here. The white on black flows well and isn't overdone. And as a plus, you've got some performance mods to back the appearance mods.

haha thanks.

but yeah, the trans issue is getting worse. Its definitely an electrical problem. Will have to leave at transmission shop ASAP. I almost could not make it home. It kept on turning off. If it keeps having trouble im gonna do the manual trans swap.
