Well I've had 2 DSM's a TSI AWD 4g and a non-turbo FWD 4g and the motor in the TSI was trash when I bought it due to the previous owners tuning errors, I rebuilt it and put it back to mostly stock and it ran like a dream! The n/a drove like it was brand new with 130,000 on the clock, no more than 2 psi off of ORIGINAL NEW, not service compression specs in any cylinder and you could shift with 1 finger. The trannys will blow if you put that kind of a clutch in without preloading before launches. When the tires grab, and the clutch grabs there's no slippage and all that instant force has to go through transmission with no form of relief if you will. There's a talon in town (goes by evil_eagle) on the net if you want to look him up and put 200+ passes on his stock drivetrain at the 10 second range (now 9.95 on his old setup gt42r going in now) and over 20,000 on the streets when the stock 2g clutch disk when out on him, STOCK clutch components. For the most part when things on cars break it's the drivers or mechanics error, not saying your friend per say, but if you launch without preloading, drive around with knock, attempt to tune without knowing what you're doing, etc... things will break and that means little to none about the integrity of the part or the vehicle. Engineers are not going to design the parts in a vehicle to take instant abuse in the form of much more than the car is able to produce stock, and every driver should keep that in mind.
