Back at it again, FINALLY! After a year, almost to the day, we have begun re-rebuilding my Z. So far we stripped out the old VH, trans, etc. I scored a JDM VH from a local car dealer and it looks mint inside so we're hoping for good sounds from it. I picked up a Z32 TT trans in Miami and had Mazworx do their thing to it (more on that later) and now we're rocking and rolling.

Plan is to have it ready by the 6th for the drive back to Florida, a/c must work or I'm going to set it on fire and get a 370. Daddy broke, need a/c to work.

Anyways after getting the adapter bolted up we found Mazworx, or their machinist didn't tap the trans bolts properly. The bolts in the kit would not fit so we b****ed about it for a day before tapping them out. Really, for that kind of money the bolt holes could at least be the right size?!?!?!

Got the suspension almost completely done, just need to bolt up new adj rear uppers. Tweaked the stock pan and xmember and am keeping the front sump. Everything else is being swapped from the old.

We have high hopes that this time she will be right. I am fully documenting the build but no time for that kind of pic work so here is a teaser. My co-conspirator is welding in a patch panel in this pic, but has shaved the rear wiper, antenna and the door handles are next. She will ride on 350z track rims and is getting painted Flat Blak. I still have to glass the hole in the hood and a lot more body work, but for now here is our status.

Nice!! I'm so glad you didn't sell it. Is this engine going to be as pretty as the last one?

Pretty? C'mon man, that paint job was evil 666 bad a**, not pretty. Nah, I don't have time and after looking at Jerry's build the silver looks awesome. I plan on screwing around with it once I'm back in FL a little bit. When done it will look nice but for now it's just about the mechanicals.

Sounds good. I'm going with a single stage like Hot Rod Flatz, more like satin. I am not sure what I want to do to the body next so this is the cheap and tough alternative, plus I am a big fan of flat paint jobs. Anyways I also had a ton of hail damage and not knowing how that will turn out and the fact that I have never painted a full car are some of the reasons. Ok, i did paint a toyota pickup at midnight with some friends in the street one time with a case of krylon ultra flat black, but that really doesn't count since we painted over the dirt, mud and everything else. lol

It's going but I am beat, finally got engine in yesterday so now comes time for the odds and ends. Would have been easier but we changed to front sump and have to mod a few little things. Thinking about it yesterday when my neighbor came over, the only thing I haven't touched in the car is the dashboard, and I need to pull that apart eventually to fix the mode door.

But like you, I can say I did EVERYTHING to it except mount the tires and the alignment. Reupholstering drivers seat now, should look like a fairly new Z when I'm done. Including cruise and hopefully a/c. No a/c, no florida.

Got it running yesterday and it sound so sweet, I forgot how wicked these engines are with open headers. Also got the a/c compressor mounted and the lines mocked up so I believe it will work just fine with no clearance issues! So psyched...
