Standard Nissan 350Z not serious enough for you? Well, if you’re looking for a faster, hairier 350Z Nissan may have the answer — the 450Z.

So far the more powerful coupe has not been confirmed for production, but rumours from our sources in Japan suggest that Nissan is seriously considering it.

The 450Z would swap the 350Z’s 3.5-litre V6 for a 4.5-litre V8, already in use in the Japanese market Nissan Fuga and several US-market Infinitis, and in a 450Z power could increase to over 400bhp. There’s also the possibility of a four-wheel drive transmission.

Should it be built, there’s a strong chance the car could be configured as a base model, which would keep the 450Z from impinging on the GT-R's price point.

We here at NICO support that idea - Give us a stripped-down, no-frills 450Z, a la instant club racer.

See you on the track, Porsche.

i think the 450z would be more of a stang competitor and a possible attempt of attacking the camaro and challenger cars as well as anticipating the future supra. Nissan knows that v8 sport coupes sell well in the states and I feel it would be a good way to attract additional buyers, but as far a Z car goes its a far cry from yesteryear. the Z purist had a hard enough time accepting the V6.

I think there is still a lot of potential in the NA VQ platform it just needs some larger displacement maybe. time will only tell but however nissan decides to come about revamping the Z's image the price is going to be the most important part. Its certainly cheaper to get 400 NA hp out of a v8 than it would be out of a FI V6 or even a high displacement NA V6.

Is nissan trying to do the same thing as corvette, going for the best bang for the buck trend all the while loosing money?
