I just drove back from LA to Surprise, AZ which is around 340 miles for me. Well, I started off getting around 25 mpg and then it slowly dipped to about 23 mpg. I was doing the math on the distance to empty and the miles I'd driven and it was equaling out to about 450 miles total on one tank. That's with cruising at 75 miles an hours mostly and only one potty break (surprisingly!) When I got close to my house, I was at about a quarter of a tank at 344 miles driven so I think I could've cleared 400 miles barely. Anyways, I'm just wondering what are the most miles you guys have gotten on one tank. This was definitely my best tank and I'm trying to gauge it off you guys.

Get around 190-200 miles a tank with an extremely light foot. Drive like a grandma basically.

I recently drove from the Seattle area to Salt Lake City. I was getting 24 mpg across Washington and Oregon. When I hit Idaho and Utah, the new speed limit is 80 mph. I set the cruise at 85 and averaged 22.2 mpg. I didn't take it terribly easy and still did well. On one of the climbs over the passes I needed to pass a semi quickly. I was amazed at how quickly I hit 95 climbing up a steep pass to get past the semi before the lane ended. On a couple of my fill-ups I had over 400 miles on the tank.

On my 2003 M45, with a 20 gallon tank, I have gotten near 450 miles (close estimate ... didn't want to get it totally empty!) on a long drive down to Los Angeles ... mostly doing around 75 to 80 mph on relatively flat road. With cruise control on.

I've never gotten much over 400 miles to a tank, but I've also never pumped over 18 gallons in at a fill-up, so I can see 450 miles as a possibility when there is no stop and go traffic, minimal break stops, and the needle is actually run well past E.

I can get close to 400. Could on my 07 and do on my 2011. Those of you who can't get over 200 either live in a place like NYC or something is REALLY wrong with the software on your car causing it to drink gas.

My very best was 440 miles on a tank. That was years ago though when the car was in better shape and didnt have mods that take my gas mileage down. Now days I can only get 320 miles on a tank if I try. My car is still in good shape, but I bet if I changed all my wheel bearings (my two rears are 10 years old now...), went back to lighter rims, went off my performance tune, and changed my final drive gearing back to stock that I would be getting back at 450.

I got over 450 miles on a tank from a trip to LA cruising 75-80 on cruise control.
I normally get 300 miles city/highway.

I think the majority of these 400+ miles per tank have the LA area in common ;)

i never get more than 220 miles on a tank... are you guys driving 90% highway? i really dont get it.

edit: just noticed none of you are trying an AWD model. funny how even an m45 seems to get better gas mileage than an m35x

Like I said this was all highway over 90%. Just city I can get barely over 300 with an average of about 17. I don't know how much the X would affect the mileage.

I average (according to the car) about 17 on surface streets. I write that off to the traffic congestion, waiting at the draw bridges, etc. On a hwy trek I get 400 miles per tank. My 07 (RWD) maxed at about 22mpg. I reckon it's the 7-speed gear box that makes my 09 do better. With cruise control, my 09 (RWD) maintains 75 mph with only about 2200-2300 rpms.

Yea i wish mine would sit at lower rpms on the highway, the mileage would definitely be at least a little better.

my m35x is getting around 300 miles for the tank and that's mixed driving (55% city and 45% highway)

On highway straight, i would reckon close to 360 miles - my best average on the highway is 22mpg.

mods/mainteance - stock rims, new front wheel bearings, the thick intake spacer with copper gasket by the throttle, greddy cat back.

With my '03 M45 I almost always hit 400 before the gas light comes on. That's mostly highway with a little stop and go in town. I've never put more than 19 gallons in the tank. The dash computer is reset between each fill up and reads 20-22mpg depending on traffic. If I hit WOT a couple times on a tank it gets down to about 370 before the light comes on. If you squeeze 19+ gallons in and drive 70-75mph on a long flat drive the whole way, I would think 450 miles is possible, but that's probably cutting it close. The advertised economy for these cars is 22mpg highway.

EDIT - Forgot to mention I'm on Michelin Pilots at 35psi
