My car that I bought makes a weird, high-revving noise starting at around 38 MPH and goes on until 42 or so...then, from 42-45 it's fine. THEN, from 45+, it progressively gets louder and louder the faster you go. It sounds almost exactly like it's just at a really high RPM rev but I know it goes into top gear, the RPMs are exactly where they're supposed to be, overdrive works fine, and the engine has no leaks, no smoke, no smells or burning, etc. That's why I'm thinking it's not the engine. As far as I can tell, it's coming from the front left side of the car (when sitting in the car). BTW, I can feel the vibration along with the noise on the gas pedal.
So, I'm guessing maybe wheel hub bearings making noise? Or maybe something else with the drivetrain? Belts, maybe? I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks, guys and gals.
