Okay, I have 1990 240sx hatch, and between 45-65 mph, the steering wheel vibrates like crazy. I have taken it to the shop, and everything looks fine, both front and rear. All four tires are good and have all been balanced. I have switched the front and rear wheels to see if it may be a bad tire or rim but nothing changes. The car drives in a perfectly straight line at all speeds. I am out of ideas as to what it could be. Any one have any ideas on what it could be? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i dont know how but the tension rods have been shown to cause a mysterious vibration when the bushings are rotted out. take a look at the rods(tension rods, t/c rods, strut rods) that come out from the lower control arms in the front. if the bushings are really tore up you need new rods. you can go with stockers or get some high performance units. the spl rods are good as are the tein rods that you can get from phase2motortrend.com

Do you think it could be anything else, because the guy I bought the car from just had them replaced the day I picked it up and had it aligned. the next day I had all four wheels re-balanced and it helped none? I will check the tension rods again. I have only had the car a little over a month, and have only driven it a few times. Again any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

check your rack mount bushing and your rack end play If the rack end play or adjustment is loose it will cause the wheels to caster like a grocery cart wheels over a bump.

are you talkin about the big nut on each end of the steering rack where the tie rod enters it?? b/c mine may also be loose...then again it could also be my tension rods too.
