So been a member for a while now, and tossed around ideas. Seems everyone goes for the VIP fatlace type setup, and just right down the road there were two more M's stanced out... I can't be the same, so decided on the performance route. No more VIP for me. And a far change from the M in my signature block. Mexillis! Come at me bro.

I know it's a luxury car... But why not.

Current finished list:

Vortech V3, fabbed our own charge piping.
fabbed Vented catch
650cc DW Injectors with 320LPH DW fuel pump
Tall boy plenum with 1/2" spacer
fabbed headers
fabbed test pipes
fabbed 2.5" SS straight through exhaust to x pipe and resonated axle back (actually quite tame sounding)
Solid motor mounts
Upgraded valve body HD2 transmission, and drilled out gears 3, 4, and 5 for a nice taught transmission. I chirp 4th :)
Extended ARP studs, hawk track pads
19x10 TE37 Reps (still trying out wheels) 255/40 stretched
Upgraded spring rates in the rear so I can stay static slammed without squatting too hard under accel.
Still rocking the KW V2's from a 350z for that extra drop...
Gold bolts from USA Bolts (Thanks guys)
Made a gauge pod to hold my A/F, OP, and Boost
All uprev tuned. 436 at the crank as a base map.
Seibon hood and trunk (Thanks guys)

Pics.

Looks good. You kept compression the same? How much boost? Is that a reverse V3 or is there more pulley work on the back of the plate?
It'll be good to see how the transmission holds up. Running the same kit put I did not enlarge the 3,4,5 passages. It looked like enlarging 4 would make reverse a brutal engagement.

Compression is the same for the time being, 8.5lbs currently, but going to 12lbs after I see everything hold up, once it gets too much, I'll be moving to engine build. V3 is the same setup pulley wise as the 350z sci trim. We had to add a few bends to the charge piping for a seamless fit, but pretty much stock plate.

Reverse is pretty sketchy, but i kept idle fairly rich to avoid any random jerks... other than that 2 to 3 is a really hard shift, but instead of j-matic I used amsoil equivalent which supports higher temps until i get a good transmission cooler in.

Yo Fat3oy!! you went missing in action for a minute, but I see you've been busy

Nice work on the Vortech!!! do you have any videos up, yet...sound clips??

BTW, the KW V2's from the 350z fit??? Damn, I'd buy those coils since they are a great product...I had Variants on my old BMW....I need to research the KW's..... :naughty:

good to hear you're still around brotha!!! good job on the SuperCharger :dblthumb:

Yo!! Videos soon. I have a few, but need to upload them. I am not sure KW makes C/O for M's but I modified the struts and strut housings to make a pair from a 350 fit... The extra weight makes the car stand nice. They might fit a non X model with no modification though... Need to get a regular M in to see.

Nice looking car. I'm in the Charlotte area currently looking for some used Eibach springs for the M45.

Going to Mt. Mitchell in two weeks. Looking forward to being at the highest point on the east coast!

Nice build. I know you won't keep it at 8.5 psi for long esp if it's adjustable inside the car. What boost controller are you using? Did you tie it into the Ecu for ignition advancements? I read a guy doing the same to a 350z and shortly after blowing the engine. It have him the opportunity to rebuild a solid motor for forced air. Btw what's that image of you state pita valve body? Is that the transmission valve body?

No, with a supercharger the boost is controlled by pulley size. I have a smaller pulley, but wont put it on just yet... Still running retarded timing on the base map until i get a good feel on everything. No boost controller at all. All my timing is adjusted via tuning.

Our stock motors should be good into the 500's with good fuel. And that is a really safe number, in my Z days I pushed it harder. IF i decide to move into the teens on boost pounds, i will be doing rods a pistons at the least...

Yeah thats the good ol valve body...

Ah. I assumed there would be a blow off valve of some sort which could be electronically controlled and in turn boost controlled from inside the car. You sound like a knowledgeable person. I had my uprev tuner recently re-tune my transmission via the torque management tables and it's nice and quick but in 2nd gear the shift is so hard it feels like the transmission will break. What are your thoughts on that? I don't drive hard often.

The 2nd gear is typically pulled at lower RPM, and it is a shorter gear... So it might be a-okay for that sharp shift (hard shift equals good shift)

BUT

If your transmission feels like it is going to break, you might can drop the pressure using the torque management tables... It is hard to say without feeling the shift, I for instance have a stiffer transmission mount (which I can show you how to do, or ship it to me and I can do it for you) and I have solid motor mounts, so there is very little play in my drivetrain making my hard shift somewhat tolerable...

As for you first statement, the S/C has a bypass valve en lieu of a blow off (sounds like a jet engine, instead of a pshh,) and the for sure only way to adjust boost is with different size pulleys, which I have a 12lbs pulley on the shelf, just too chicken to try it out just yet.

NO! It is just for me!

But seriously I am very open to kits being made... would most likely be a charge piping kit and you buy the S/C and plate...

I might be able to get an account with Vortech on just the blower core, but would have to see...

Would you, and other members be interested in a plug and play setup? I reckon it wouldnt be cheap, unless we get a group buy type deal going.

Define "not cheap" ;) I looked into a supercharger a few years ago and have always wanted one, but the cost to buy and then custom work to get it installed has always been too prohibitive. But knowing someone has now done it and has pics to show for it I am definitely interested in looking into getting one.

I will put down a price list...

But ballpark (and I'm guessing over to just be sure) it would be 8-10k... but that should be plug and play minus engine management stuff...

So:
S/C unit and plate
Injectors w/ harness
Pump
All charge piping
Intercooler

The 8 to 10k would prolly be installed as well... Mind you there are modifications to the bumper that are needed in order for proper fit.

Now to shoot myself in the foot...

You can probably pick up everything needed from a 350z forum, minus the charge piping and save yourself a grip of loot... it will be used stuff, but you'll really take a chunk out of that pricing. Just FYI...

If you are really interested I'll consider hitting up vortech for some cheaper core charges and maybe get you a legit, more focused, price quote for a kit.

8-10k is a lot to pimp this car out. Also i'm interested in learning more abt the driveability and reliability of this kit on this car in yhe next 6 and 12 months.

Indeed, however, the supercharger itself is 6k... 2-4K for fabbing charge piping, install, injectors, fuel pump, and tuning is a deal, unless i live in candyland...

This supercharger, on this engine, will last the life time of the car... I figure reliability is not an issue at all...

Drive-ability shouldnt be an issue either as it is a supercharger and not turbo's... S/C is the daily drivers go fast part.

So if you owned a 2011 M56x and were willing to invest $3k or so to improve performance ... what would you do?
Or would it not be worth doing anything unless you go to the $10k as you did on M35x?
Great job btw!

I think the 2011 M56's come stock with over 400hp & tq, so I'd invest in an exhaust system, remove the secondary cats, and get Uprev tuned....you'll have some money left over and gain some good hp/tq :dblthumb:

He asked me CPJ not you!!!! You dont know what you are talking about...

But, M56's come stock with over 400hp & tq, so I'd invest in an exhaust system, remove the secondary cats, and get Uprev tuned....you'll have some money left over and gain some good hp/tq

Seriously though... That is a baller car. CPJ is dead on if you want to do that type of performance work... I'd love to spend 10k on that car and make it boss, but no need, it is dope as it sits...

A tune will open her up indeed (but I am not 100 if uprev has a rom for that car, more than likely they do) I'd go all the way and delete all cats if you are brave enough... Straight throughs or HFCs... I'd not touch the suspension if you are looking for performance as they are pretty legit out of the gate; if going function<form then lower it with some different wheels...

For 3k... Intake, Exhaust, Springs, and Tune...

3 to 5k... All of the above minus springs add coilovers, plus wheels, further breathing work...

5-10k... Pssssshhhhh Vroom!

I agree with you fat3oy ... I don't want what everybody else has.
Black is still my fav (had black E55 and black SL550) but wife likes white so we have gone to white ... thus white M56x.
Uprev sounded like a good place to start but didn't see setup for my car so I'll check that later.
I'm done with exterior so will hold back for a few months and decide IF I want to go with performance mods.
When I figure out how to do it (I'm still a rookie) ... I'll add a pic of my white M56x (with some black accents).
Thanks for ideas for future performance mods!
