well... after adjust the Xenon headlights higher, it still sucked.it looks like regular halogen when compared next to my friend's lexus.

i'll probably upgrade the bulb to a brighter/whiter type... I know it uses D2S style but i'm not sure what temp to go with. I don't want it to be blue, i want white and bright.should i go with 6000K or just go ahead for 8000K? i think 10000 might be too blue.

also, any tip on where to get them? i'm trying to stay away from ebay.

As you increase in temp the less light output. I'd recommend 6000k. I have it on my BMW and they are bright white and have alot of light output.

I want to do the same to my M35, but i just had a question. Did you have to buy the whole HID kit or just the bulbs itself. Can you please give me some tips.

I'd say go with 6000k.

Heres a pic of my set up:

6k headlights with 3k fogs both HID's

8K is too much blue, the 6k seems to be the best white with a hint of the blue that still looks factory. The 3k obviously makes them not but if I drive without the fogs I get alot of people asking me if it's stock and if not what kind of bulbs I used.

Hope this helps!

There isn't any better output then 4300K.

It produces the most lumen's. The higher kelvin color you go the crappier the output. FACT!

Correct. 4300k is the closest to actual sunlight, I do believe.

5600° K is actually the color temperature of pure daylight.

Try to avoid going over 6000° K as that is where the lumens start really declining severely.

Actually it depends on longitude/latitude, time of day and the time of year

General afternoon sunlight is around 4500k whereas summer sunlight is in the 5500-5700 range, per one link I found. You are correct in that sunlight is higher than 4300k

This is talking about aquarium lights, but the concepts are the same, and this shows how color temperature vs. part of the spectrum (there is a chart on this site). found here :http://ahsupply.com/bulbs.htm

Bulbs with a Color Temperature of 5500K through 7800K are appropriate for freshwater planted aquariums. There is no practical difference regarding plant growth, but there is an appearance difference. Bulbs around 5500K have a warmer daylight appearance similar to early morning light. Bulbs around 6700K have an appearance more like daylight in the middle of the afternoon under a clear blue sky. The 7800K bulb are just slightly bluer than the 6700K but maintain a balanced, daylight spectrum.

For marine aquariums, you'll want to mix 7800K or 10000K bulbs with Blue bulbs in a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 or use the Combo bulbs which have one tube that is 10000K and the other tube dark blue actinic.

For Blue actinic bulbs we provide a description rather than a color temperature so you'll better understand what appearance to expect. Those bulbs called Bright/Medium Blue put out most of their light between 400nm and 500nm. Those called Dark/Deep Blue put out most of their light between 380nm and 450nm. Both have their primary spectral peak at around 420-430nm. Actinism is a property of radiation which, in the visible spectrum, has wavelengths between 380nm and 500nm.

I would never recommend lower than OEM 4300K nor higher than 6000K. I personally have and highly recommend Philips Ultinon bulbs which are 6000K rating.Another thing to keep in mind is the manufacturer of the bulbs. There are dozens of companies out there that are marketing their bulbs differently. Do a simple search on Ebay for instance, you will see pictures saying the bulbs are 6000K and some that look identical saying they are 8000K. This is another reason why staying with a quality manufacter is the best way to go, Philips and Osram are the two OEM parts suppliers for xenon/HID bulbs. To this date I do not believe that Osram makes a bulb with a temp above 5300K.Cheers

Depends on your M. Some Ms do not have HID.

If your M has HID then all you need are replacement HID bulbs, other here recomend from OEM 4300K to 6K.

if you don't have HID on your M then you will need the entire kit.

if you want your fogs HID then you will need a kit for that as well.

I agree with everyone else, dont go past 6k, it gets really blue in a hurry after that.
