408 Build/Swap

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Well this months to start but I finally got everything in and the build has begun. We ran into quit a few problems out of our hands. First I had two rod bearings scratched in shipping, one retainer clip broken, missing bolts, wrong head bolts, and few other things but luckily everything has worked out to my advantage.

Here are some pics of the motor build. Hoping to install this week. maybe tomorrow or Tuesday.

I got it running. The oil pressure isnt very high though but I hope its just the gauge. Im not going to run the motor again till I figure it out.

Yep...that ***** is gonna scream. Assuming you don't have a oil pressure issue. Is the pump new? I see it says ported LS6 pump, what is ported on the pump? Can you shim the relief valve? Bare in mind I have never seen a LS oil pump.

Ported means the outlet on the oil pump is ported larger for more oil flow. The insides of a LSx oil pump are very simple. Just a cog gear that rotates the pump part.

Does porting the outlet for more volume decrease pressure?

No the LSx pumps have a spring in them that controls some of the pressure. Also the bearing clearance is what produces the pressure not the pump. The pump forcing fluid through is what you see as pressure.

Should have gone with a real cam instead of the Baby Jesus cam.

Get some vids of that thing running a 9 second pass fool or I'll have to beat you to it!

slow vert aye?? I would hate to have to roll up that ls1! j/k Although I do think it would be a good race, I think I'm gonna get rid of it and get a Skyline R32, GTS-T but a Skyline none the less, don't worry an RB25 swap is on the list...(this is all dependent on the guy who wants my car (my dreams will probably be crushed but I'm praying)
