4000+ rpm popping sound HELP!!

hey guys and gals.. and everyone in between

i have a wierd problem with my baby.

its making these wierd noises when i put it in netural and increase the rpm to about 4000+ - 6000 and its making a thubbing sound of some sort. its the engine. i know that much. umm its like the pistons are not getting gas??i really dont know.. i mean on the street its awsome.. sorta but when i test it out in netural it does that noise. maybe i can get a digi video camera and post the sound if that may help? thx.

i found out that its a possibilitythats its misfiring and i noticed injector #2 is very loud. its been loud for over a year so i dunoo.

You might want to check for exhaust leaks: I had one on the collector-to-cat that would only leak at certain RPM's(it would pop, as you described). In this case look for discoloration around the flanges/gasket.

Also I don't advise revving your engine in neutral like that too often... not good on the engine.

oh man i have alot! i got like 3-7 holes on my exhaust pipe alone.. no cat and i just removed the heat shield.. i noticed the sounds after i removed the heatshield... thanks

what would be the besy way to get the 3in exhaust from? i was thinking maybe the mufflerman 3in pipe after cat delete dunno. i also need a 3in muffler any idea where i can get one that big??

Goto the 240 forums and look up the BRM stuff. I have seen a nd heard it first hand. I like it. perfect sound at idle, not to loud and sounds good at cruise speeds. If you dont like noise I recommend getting the resonator. Other wise its gonna sound pretty close to a stock car at the races[just the way I like it]

i dont think its the exhaust.... my engine vibrates violently when making the noise... sounds like a misfire.. maybe bad injectors or maybe running lean?

What do your spark plugs looks like(and how long ago were they replaced)? Check the easy stuff first for signs of other problems.

plugs were replaced like almost 2 months ago, dunno what they look like
