A friend of mine picked up the old Boost Designs car from PJ and I have been working hard on getting it straightend out.... Last time I was busy putting a stock intake mani back on it (the BD / Steed Speed intake just had WAY too many issues), fixing the problems with the BD fuel rail after the brackets failed and the fuel rail blew off, getting the motor running, and working with Enthalpy with the chip for the car... After my buddy got the car back, he wanted to address some drivability issues and make a bit more power....
This time around I put a SAFC II in, removed the nitrous, swapped boost controlers, removed a lot of crazy wiring, installed LSD, and swapped the turbo from a straight T3 to a T3 / T4....
We slapped the car on the dyno yesterday and worked on tuning the car... The BD manifold was designed poorly and boost creeps bad especially with the fake Tial WG... Carefully reading plugs and using an HKS knocking meter to make sure we were safe we let the boost creep to see where it would plateau... We found that it was stopping around 17 psi at about 6000 rpms... We dialed in the boost controler to bring the boost to 17.5 psi and it held steady to 7000 rpms.... And here are the results....
These runs are SAE corrected DOWN.... Actual HP was peaking at 403 whp... Not too shabby for a truck motor....
