hey DrifterProdigy85 whats the spark plug part# for the plugs your running? im running BKR7ES11 gapped at .029" and i want to upgrade to a iridium plugs. im not too sure what would be appropriate.im running a red top with a 2871r, 740cc injectors, z32 maf, enthalpy tune and a fully rebuilt engine with forged pisons. i was just wondering what your plugs were for reference, i know i'll dig up some info on it but i just wanna know your opinion. thanks

Silk S13....

I run NGK BKR8EIX iridium plugs gapped at .025". I'm pretty sure that's what driftprodigy and codyace run except I think prodigy gaps his down to .022" We all run variations of the GT2871R(.64 or .86ar). When I got my car it had BKR6E gapped at .035" and I switched to the BKR8EIX on a cool November night in Kentucky and it ran the 11.7@117. The guy I bought it from is a friend of mine and he had it dynoed at 334whp at 55 degrees and I had it dynoed at the same shop and I hit 345whp at about the same temp both on 93 ocatane. The only thing I had changed was the 3.91 J30 vlsd, royal purple gear oil in the transmission and diff, adjusted the FPR to 36psi, and switched the plugs. I was also running drag radials on the dyno and they were 8 pounds lighter than my street wheels.

Update. Car is running. Currently running open down pipe, idle is 850 steady. It sounds nasty and exhuast will be put on this week. I have put about 250miles on the new head. Bringing it through the rpm ranges, revving it slowly to 4000 through each gears and not bringing it past 5000. I'll bring to 500 miles before i start beating on it. I did a pull today spiking at 16psi, starting at 3000 in 2nd till 5000, shifted, then up to 5000 in 3rd. Frankly it feels slow as balls. Its def stuttering around 4500-5000, waste gate trying to hold boost? Its not tuned for the built head yet but tuned for the other supporting mods. I am going to buy a Enthalopy ECU next week, followed shortly by a wide band. Hopefully the ECU will fix my problems..

Just found out the BOV was leaking at idle, that could explain the reason for stuttering at high rpms. Tightned the type S down a couple turns and do a pull or 2 in a little bit.

edit again. it seems the type s opens and gets stuck open periodically so probaly going with a tial or hks.

Ok time for update. 700 miles on the new head, borrowed a greddy knock off till this weekened when my tial comes in. I am very impressed with this car, on 16 psi i raced a e46 m3 from 3rd gear @ 45 and by 100 i put almost 2 cars and still pulling. it was on a private owned strip of course...but low end torque doesnt seem all lost as i have read from peoples posts, it has excellent mid range. still dk if i should keep the 60-1

another update, except with problems. went to the track mixed some 93 with 110. boost set to 15 and on the way it seemed to have stuttering problems, bad. ran it once and called it a day b/c it was stuttering bad and acceleration wise i got raped by a stock SR who was on 10psi, i trapped a 105.... timing was set to 15 which is stock. boost leaked test and found a little leak, nothing too significant and was plugged. cleaned the MAF, changed the spark plugs and gapped to .025. it still stutters while accelerating but if you floor it, it will boost and not stutter, it will not hold in any RPM's while cruising and stutter. vaccume fluctuates from 22-15 at idle and will idle like crap. im not sure whats the deal, ill be takign the valve cover off this weekend to see whats up. ITS not tuned for the cams, I had e-mailed enthalopy(scott) and he had said for 264's i would be good for the tune i have. tial bov is going on this week. and the knock off type s i had is leaking a little at idle, but cant be the only problem for the idle. any input is appreciated.

Any of you running in the 350+ range running into any transmission issues...or have you built up the transmission/rear in any way?

Curious to know what might start breaking if I get into these numbers some day.

i imagine if you do alot of digs something will eventually break. as far as i know i have not read people having issue with the transmission with high HP applications. i havent heard of people snapping axles either, we arent hondas

jordan- vaccume at idle will sometimes fluctuate from 22-15, idle would go down to 500 an sometimes die. friday for sure the AEM wide band is going on along with the tial. Ive been holding it off cuz of money issues but im good now. so friday getting everything welded and put on and will update this, im sure im running rich as heck. Sunday im purchasing AEM Power FIC, and getting it tuned the next week hopefully if tips are good.

kentuckyslider- cams/intake mani. do it, to it baby. and make sure its tuned. btw what hp is the cobra maf maxed at?

edit: idatuner- i still cant get over your 400hp build, thats so insane...

if vacuume is flucating liek that i would check fora boost leak. or a vaccum leak

i wouldnt go with aem tuning stuff because it is over priced and you need soem one specialized in it to work on it.

cobra maf should be good to over 400 not sure how much over, but you will be fine.

thanks mistamacadamian i am stoked with how it turned out too.

Are you using JWT or enthalpy. I have JWT with a SAFC-2. When i add cams and intake I will retune without safc and leave it alone.
