Hey, I've been looking around for exhaust suggestions on this forum and I am in the market for a muffler style catback. But now seeing the HKS High-Power I really can't decide, especially since the muffler style exhaust systems are pricey and I only really have about $400 to play with. Does anyone have a quality half way discreet exhaust they spent around $400 on?thanksjosh

if you have a ka anything other than stock will not be discrete it will be loud as f***. i say circuit sports exhaust is the closses looking 3inch exhaust that looks discrete.

I would go with the Circuit Sports exhaust. I have it on my KA and it's great. It's quiet at idle, doesn't drone when cruising, but sounds amazing at full throttle. I believe I picked mine up for around four hundred bucks. It's pretty discreet I would say. It often gets overlooked by people who don't know what they're looking for. Plus you won't look like . I've had mine with over a year with no trouble. It fits great.

Yeah, I have been considering between the CS, even though they discontinued them which is making their price go up and the BRM which doesn't look bad either. I have a stock KA, just a full CAI on it so I figured a can would be Loud!

i can get a full catback for $120 and doesnt sound annoying, and i comes w/ removable silencer...

but for a muffler style i would say to buy a nice magnaflow dual exhaust... and go to a muffler shop to get the piping from cat to muffler made

Word, but I think I'm going to go ahead and get the HKS Hi-Power. It has the black coating on the piping and polished can so it seems good. If I get piping at a muffler shop here in this s***box it will probably be some aluminized piping that will rust up really quick because of all the rain we get.

I believe the HKS is aluminized piping as well, hence the black coating.

Have you looked at the RSR Ex-mag????

This is true, I'm thinking about looking into these local muffler shops and see what the deal is because I might be even shorter on cash if I don't get this job over the summer... I really wanted to make my own exhaust anyway with the resonator and muffler bought from Vibrant Performance. I already have their cone filter and it is really good quality. Thanks everyone for the input

i have an ebay cat back with test pipe, 3 inch and header, it sounds amazing with a def noticable gain in power over the stock setup and its not loud at all (with silencer)l. i paid around 235 total, the header i picked up 2nd hand but never installed for 60 bux. 400 is a bit extreme i think for a stock cat back setup, save a lil here and use it towards something else, hell even some decent speakers lol.

yeah i found a local muffler shop here and I'm not going to be spending $400 bucks anymore, more along the lines of $300 for custom if that.

I've had my megan 3" catback for 4 years now. No rust or anything, megan isn't "ebay" crap.. it's good.

I have nothing bad to say about SSAutoChrome catbacks/turbobacks. It is not like it has moving parts like suspension or turbo. Heck, it is just 3" diameter SS exhaust piping. I think I spent a total of 300 bux and I got a turbo back and a catback (busted up the cannon on those Naples streets, if you want to call them that). I had a CA and it sounded great, just a little gurggly/bubby if I let of the gas from high RPMs. If you need to fine tune, change out the test pipe for a resonated one or just have a resonator welded in. Still cheaper and just about the same performance minus the name brand and you have more money in your pocket. Buy name brand turbos, suspension, and aero. Exhaust is justmetal piping.......................

My 2 cents.

yes, there is a guy with a teg about two houses down from me and I know Exactly when he leaves and Exactly when he comes back. My vibrant perfomance exhaust won't be loud at all, there is a S14 video on Youtube with the dual outlet muffler that I'll be getting. It sounds sooo deep and clean.

hks hi power 2.5 inch is so quiet on my na ka, but at the same time it sounds deep and has a nice rumble. If i could, i would buy the circuit sports 3 inch exhaust.

I got eBay, best $60 I spent in a long time. Had one small fitment issue with the bracket (its a 2-piece exhaust) was hitting the sub-frame so I had a shop fix it for me, was like $25. Sounds good IMO, and there is a silencer if you want one. It leaves you with extra cash, plus when it come down to it, pipe is pipe. Why should one pipe cost 10x the price then the other.

I've always had magnaflow exhausts on all my cars. they're not too loud and they have a warranty. Never had a problem w/ fitment. The look is the only thing i don't like but i get over.

Yeah, I heard a lot of good things about magnaflow. I just ordered my Vibrant Performance Streetpower flat black muffler and 12" resonator. Check out their website, their fabrication parts are really nice and not too pricy online. I will post pictures up of the parts when I get them and the finished product once I get it welded up. A local shop here in Statesboro quoted me at about 100-150$ for aluminized piping from the cat back, which I think is a good price.

Alright guys, just thought I'd share my soon-to-be exhaust setup. The parts just came in today from Vibrant Performance and I am really impressed with the quality. I purchased their straight through street power muffler with 2.5" inlet and dual 3" outlets. I also picked up a 12" resonator to go with it for even more discreet note. Here are some pictures and there's one sound clip that I found on Youtube of an s14 if anyone wants to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cf3n9E08tE

yeah man definitely, I just need to borrow a camera from somebody, ha. I should get the piping before next hopefully. I think it sounds awesome on the KA and the one on youtube had 2.25" piping, idk how much of a difference that will make...
