40 Classic Cars Destroyed

This fella was a life long collector of classic cars, most of which were Studebaker's
and a large part of his possessions were lost. Along with his collection of cars
around 20 classic motorcycles were lost. I can't imagine loosing a lifelong collection
like this. I always looked forward to riding by his business to see which one he
drove to work that day.

that's a shame. The article said the fire was "accidental" but did not mentioned what caued it. Wonder what happened?

The owner said a catalytic converter set a grass fire that he thought he had extinguished and some embers must have blown into some leaves next to the building causing the structure fire. He had some pretty rare cars in there, a few Packards, a late 50's Desoto and I have seen an Avanti like this one http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9 ... oBpii3OuAw
in there before. there was a really neat Studebaker pickup crew cab. BMW Isetta. Who knows what else.

Dude I can't imagine how bad that would suck. And with that many cars like he said you can't really afford to insure them all. Hopefully he comes out of it ok.

Looks like Haggerty is going to be cutting some checks to this guy. It's a shame to see so much history go up in smoke like that. I hope he doesn't quit but rather starts over collecting.
