I have a quick question about doing an alignment on a g35 2004 coupe. I already had it done because my tires were wearing off unevenly I went to "Pep Boys" to have it done there. The problem was that they were only able to do the toe, the 2 front wheels because they said i need to purchase something to have to back done. Now i talked to another mechanic and he said that I dont need to that all I have to do it just go to a place that does G35. So my question is do i or do i not have to purchase something to do the back alignment and where can i get it done? Do i have to take it to the Infinity dealer or not?

Pepboys sucks! hahaha j/k.

Welcome to NICO.

The G35 has 4 wheel adjustable Toe. I'm not sure what the PB guys were trying to do. It's possible that they were referring to the camber arms for the rear which would allow for adjustable camber. Not sure.

Infiniti might be your best bet. I went with Discount Tires because they offer a lifetime alignment and I've used them for quite a few years.

There are no special tool required to align any "Infiniti". It's not like a Benz or Beemer. The rear toe and camber are adjustable with a 19mm and 17mm box wrench. In the front only the toe is adjustable without modification. Maybe they're alignment heads are old or they do not want to scratch your rims. What do you have?

I talked to the mechanic and he said that not all shops carry the tool to do the rear alignment

I wonder what tool it is because I don't think I have one either and I have been doing body shop alignments on these cars for almost ten years. Uhoh.

I know that Nissan/Infiniti's have a problem when they get older and especially in the "salt states" with suspension components rusting and are not the easiest cars to work on.

You might want to think about hitting the Dealer for this one. It's only slightly more than Pep Boys and the piece of mind that the person doing your alignment only aligns that type of car is worth it in my opinion.

Also align the toe on the front with max toe in (2mm). Suppose to help tire feathering issues if you have them.

I have a feeling that the "tool" they are talking about is a 4 wheel alignment machine. They may just do a thrust angle alignment or possibly align the front wheels to the chassis.

What a waste. Time for the dealer or a fully equipped shop.

Do they even make those anymore?

Even the ten year old Hunter updated w/i the last few years will be able to do it. They probably have no clue what they are doing.I would run far away from there.
