2002 Q45 Sport w/255/45/18kumho on factory rims. running 36psi cold. 65,000 miles

I had a set of 4 swift springs (from Burtman Industries) installed last month. The shop stripped the threads on the driver side strut so they replaced it at no charge w/ a new one from Infiniti. THey were really great about it and I will continue to use them. However, there seems to be a little "wallow" or unevenness" when I am on the freeway going over larger dips in the road. Almost like the feel of going over another boat's wake at the lake.

I realize the swift springs lowered the suspenion and I can tell-it is a different ride.

But would replacing only one strut make a differnce in the ride. At 65k the other strut is due to replace in about 30k. I really noticed it yesterday, whe I drove hwy 80 to San Fransisco, w 4 adults and a trunk FULL of luggage. I realize that the addional weight made the "unevenness' more pronounced, but it reinforced what I thought I had been sensing over the last month.thanks,Happy FOurth!!!

Did it start with the new springs, strut or with the tires? I had a 2001 Mustang Bullitt that came with factory 245's and I switched to 255's because of a price difference and I noticed a significant increase in the car's tendency to follow grooves in the road. Hope this helps.

Common for one shock/strut to soften first and at a different rate.

Stiffer springs just accelerate the process.

Unfortunately all the Q I know well are the 90-96 units after replacing 5 sets in my 307,000 miles and observing and testing multidozens of similiar units from other Q.....................the compressed TIMED self expansion test without any springs and the lack of self expansion test.

Leaks are rarer and the unit has been essentially dead for some time before it leaks.

The tires were on for a month before I did the lowering springs. then the springs and the 1 strut at the same time. And yes I noticed the new tires, that squirm that comes from having a lot of tread. But my Michilins were pretty well worn so I attribute some of it to the difference in old and new. But I could feel that it was a larger tire.

this wallowing that I'm reffering to now started after the springs were installed and they replaced one of the struts. I actually did'nt realize the had replaced the whole strut until a week after I had picked up the car. I went in to finally pay the bill (I told you, they are great to work with). The VDC system had quit working after the new springs were installed , all the warning lights were on and her sent me to the Infiniti Dealer to get it check out.The dealer said a fuse was blow and replaced it.The car drove much better with the vdc system working!!!!!!!I didn't really notice the wallowing that much until this trip yesterday.I know it wasn't just the treads.

I think I will just buy the other strut and ask them to install it

Q45tech,I guess that's what Im asking: Driver side is Brand New, the stripped the treads so they bought and installed a new Infiniti strut at no charge. The passenger side has 65K miles on it. It is probably worn out. although it's not leaking, I imagine that the ride would be better with 2 new struts in front and not 1 old and 1 new.

THanks for the quick responses

Kumho tires tend to be significantly less sidewall stiff than Michelins.

Everytime I've tried them on my Q or seen /ridden on them in other Lexus/Infiniti found them Lacking and not up to the task. With just 170 pound me so I can imagine whay they would be like with a LOAD.
