Okay guys,

UPS delivered my Avic-Z2 and I'm about to hit the GW Autosports shop and have some real experts install this Nav and you know I want to rear view camera blicky.

My question is:

I was just at the dealer yesterday, looking at a 2.5 with Nav, and I don't remember seeing a camera mounted in the back.

Where is the camera going to be installed and is it more concealed in the factory setup?

Looking at how the young lady with the white coupe on CarDomain installed hers, the camera is mounted near the license.

Okay, fine and good, but how easy would it be for someone to just walk by and swipe it? Is this as good as it gets, because that looks kinda ugly, to tell you the truth.

I'm doing some research and I'm finding there are some wireless rear camers and some very nice-looking gadgets, from cameras installed in brake lights to license plate frames.

Check these out:http://www.sigmaautomotive.com...a.php

I think the cameras built into the license plate look pretty hot (see I-Cam, FrameCam or the 3rd Brake Light Cam). I guess I would need to contact Pioneer and see if any other camers work with the system.

Question for the AfterMarketers? If you installed a rear camera, where did you put it, and can you post a pic?

As always, thanks in advance, Mad BC

Im not sure on this, but i have to believe that you can make any camera feed into the unit... Or any output device for that matter... xbox, ps3 etc...

LBC, unless another minor miracle happens, the Z2 won't go on sale for 1K again, not even when the Z3 comes out...

MBC, thanks for the heads up, I should've grabbed it when you first posted it and it was still available!!!

Also, as far as rear view cameras go, any rear view camera with reverse view will work. Most of them nowadays have this! And I think the best and most camouglaged look is that of the license plate camera like the one you posted or more specifically, the BOYO black VTL-300 ... Since you have a black car, this will look best on your vehicle!!!!!

I've got some things in the works for the interior of my car also, but I don't want anyone bitin' my idea until AFTER its done..lol

Tell Glen at GW I said what's up...if he even remembers me

My bad man,

I was actually waiting to hear from you about your 700 dollar deal. Almost made me miss the deal myself.

Yeah, I would have mentioned it, BUT, I had it in my mind that you were good to go with a better deal.

AND, I did post the updated price. Who knew they were at the end of their inventory?

Cool. Good news. I'll keep you posted.

Let's hope so, but yeah, the Z1 is still running over 1 Grand.

Man, those remaining units must have sold like hotcakes. I kept waiting to get an e-mail saying they made a mistake...lol.

Yeah, I think the black license plate holder would be really hot.

Haha, yeah, I hear you man.

You prob should give me your name so I can tell Glen you said what's up--not sure he will know who RJD is..

I talked to Glen earlier this week. Tell me something, does he do a lot of Navs and what type of work did they do for you?

Just got back from GW Motorsports.

Glenn remembers you Robert.

He was like, yeah, lambo doors!

Everthing looks good. He was amazed by the price of the Z2, saying the best he could get it for was 1,600. I had to bring the Z2 down there and show him the receipt...hah. He is going to order the remaining parts, then we'll be good to go!

I'll keep you guys posted.

Those guys are good though. He even built a dash with an iPod bay for another car. I don't think I want to go that far. He thinks the iPod should go in the dash, but I want it to go into the bottom cabin underneith the dash.

We are looking at solid black dash kit. Probably lose the texture on the dash, but that's perfectly fine.

In terms of the rear camera, he said he can connect any camera I want, but they may not have the two view feature (back view + nav) because that is built into the camera. I can live with that.

I also had an issue with the Nav antenna being on the hood or on the trunk. The damn thing is a magnet. No way I'm having this on the outside of the ride, so somebody can come by can swipe it.

Glen mentions, before I even get to this, that he always mounts the antenna in the dash board. PERFECT!

Anyway, we are moving along.

Thanks man,Mad BC
