Ok, this is what I "think" is needed. I've been doing lots of reading since I want to convert my front/rear 300zx swap into 5 lug so I can run diff wheels.

Anyway:

5 lug:

1) a. Front hub direct swap for s13 (pdm-racing, rare-trick, gto, attain, etc) b. s14 hub + spindle -> s14 balljoint plugged into s13 lower control arm (pdm-racing)

2) Rear hub - N/A 300zx hub or s14se hub - direct fit -> either buy a new wheel bearing, or you will have to press your old ones out. These are direct fit.

3) Rotors & wheels that are 5 lug (if you have 300zx rotors, then ur set w/ the 5 lug rotors part)

Hope that helps. And if it doesn't -> SEARCH (there's literally hundreds of threads on here, zilvia, and freshalloy)

Is the primary motivation for this swap generally the fitting of brakes?

People always bring up wheels, but there are SO many bada$$ 4-lug wheels, all the old school JDM stuff. I wish I was 4-lug sometimes just so I could fit Sein Racing or Mk2R SSRs.....

Well, it does make gettings rotors easier (at least for me). I can't find a machine shop around my area that will return my calls on redrilling 5->4 lug. Of course, I could just not be looking hard enough. I already have a redrilled set, but down the road, it's kind of a pain to get front & rear 300zx rotors and get them redrilled to 4 lug.

Also, yes, there are plenty of wheels for both 4 lug and 5 lug. One of the reasons I want to go 5 lug is that my friend recently stripped one of his studs on a 4 lugger -> that leaves 3 lugs, not to good - but he has still been driving around on it for a couple weeks, haha. So if I had 5 lug -> 4 lugs left, I'm ok for a while.

I think once you get into wide 17's and 18's w/ lower offsets it becomes harder to get 4 lug rims as most companies seem to be favoring 5 lug cars, not that 4 lug is impossible to get. Did you see the custom Work Wheel group buy for 4 and 5 lug on zilvia - mmmmmm, sexy, starts at @2K shipped, .

All of these reasons are not real "needs"... but neither is the 300zx brake swap and 5 lug swap itself :-D.

On the subject of rear hub bearings, just find a set of hubs with the bearings on them, makes things way easier and convinent. The set I have on now has over 190,000 miles on them and they dont make a sound, not bad for $40.

Oh and the reason they specifie NA 300zx rear hubs is because the TT version has the integral drum brake. If you get the whole twin turbo 300zx rear brake assembly it bolts onto the 240sx knuckles, e-brake and all. Its just you either have to decide NA hubs and stock brakes, or TT hubs and go through the hasle of swapping all the other junk on (not easy).
