Hey guys I was trying to put my system from my wrecked LX accord into my new 240sx (s14). The wire ended up coming short when i got to the hood so what I did was attach a fuse then use the 4 gauge ground wire connected to the amp as a extension to the battery. (I assume they are both the same except for the color of the rubber around the wire.) Also I felt unsafe leaving the wire exposed in the hood so i have zip tied it to other wires and wrapped the entire wire with black electrical tape. If anyone thinks i did something stupid or too much please warn me! I dont want to burn the engine down.

Is it ok to use black electrical tape and does the ground wire really affect how the power gets sent? I also bought some 4 gauge battery wire to replace the ground wire I bought. (Best buy sold 4 gauge ground wire for 20$ AutoZone sold battery switch 4 gauge wire for 5-6$)

Electrical tape is fine for covering wires

Without a ground wire, your stereo won't turn on

Do everything right, use zip ties, gold crimp connectors, spades etc. Don't try to cheat and twist the wires together then tape up the ends, thats the worse way to make any kind of electrical connection.
