4 Engines in 1 month!!

I have been trying to swap a 1998+ engine into a 1996. I have tried a 1998, 1999, another 1999 and now a 2001. All of them have failed to run satisfactorily. The issues are hard starting from flooding, low compression and knocking sound from valve train. The car cannot be driven, It just runs like crap.

I thought maybe my 1996 intake was the problem, I tried a different '96 intake with no change. these engines are all insurance wrecks and they obviously ran good. Non of them had over 140k miles. I checked timing and all the marks and links line up at TDC on the crank.

Its a puzzle to me Please help!

Those all swap over, however the sensors, dizzy, and ecu vary slightly. Did you swap all of that over ?
