I did a search for 4.636 and couldnt find any info on it.

My situation is this:

I'm in europe and our final drive is 3.91, which makes getting off the line about as sluggish as my fat grandaddy getting out of his rocking chair. I would light to tighten that up a bit, and if possible go all out and push the 4.636 in there.

Since our diffs are R200's, I was wondering if the 4.636 set would fit fine. I talked to Courtesy Parts and they said it "should", but could not supply a definite answer. The part I am planning on buying is the following: http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...00005

I have considered this as well, as I have access to a set of 4.63's...

However, I'm wondering if it might not be TOO steep a ratio, as it seems 1st (with a manual and a 4.08 vlsd) is pretty short...

Although there's certainly plenty of torque to launch in 2nd for daily driving and keep 1st for the track.

A 4.36 ratio (which I think is also available from Nissan) might be a nice compromise.

Yea, 4.36 came in my 180SX I drove while stationed in Japan. I thought it was amazing and regret not saving that pumpkin. The 4.63's would be more of an expirement on the German Autox events and such. I never crush the 100mph barrier on any place other than the ring (I drive like my grandma on our autobahns), so not having access to a sick speed limit wouldnt hurt me a bit. Only thing stopping me from doing this right now is knowing if it can fit or not, as courtesy will not refund me if it does not fit our application, and thats quite a bit of cash to drop on something that would become a paperweight.
