Hello,

Hows the Z crowd? I know this has been done maybe twice before....but I would like to see if anyone would be interested in seeing an M45 4.5L V8 installed into a 350Z. This engine would be from the NEW M45 , not the one from 2002. It would be installed with all OBDII systems intack in order to maintain emissions legal.

This is mearly a suggestion at this time. If your interested in seeing a project I have going at this time, please see....

Once I have finished this project, I will be looking to do one for the Z crowd. I have several plans in the works. The 350SX is almost done, a V8 350Z (450Z) has already been discussed with my dealership and has thier support. I am also offering to upgrade your VQ35DE to an HR model (new for the 2007 Z and standard on the G sedan).

So, whats the verdict? Should a V8 get put in a Z? Remember, the GTR will be out soon, and the Z will need a little help to keep up with it!

Greetings! I follow your 350sx to the letter and I'm VERY impressed. But if I'm not mistaken Nissan is planning to do this in some form for the next Z. Haha are you sure they won't try to assasinate you for doing it early?

Ha! They would still need to one up me....I plan to make the motor 11.0:1 if I do. That way it will still shine for years to come....not just a cool motor in a cool car. As for the V8 factory in the Z.....they've been rumoring that for along time. If they do...so much for my plan. Then again, I could supercharge it as well. I will be honest though, I will have to shoehorn this thing in.....its not like the S13/14, there is way limited room in the Z, not to mention no Manual trans for the V8, so that means a custom bellhousing. No doubt it would fit though. Only weighs about 40 lbs more too!

No, the 350Z will remain that.....a 350 (3.5). If anything, we could eventually see a 3.7 liter motor. But the Z has been and will remain to be a 6 cylander.

The VQ35HR is in the 2007 model 350Z, bringing it up to about 310 hp. As that motor has just been released and installed to the new model vehicles.....I would see no reason for another motor change anytime soon. It would be a waiste of money, not to mention cause hell in the assembly lines and parts departments. 2007 HR motor release. This will definately be the motor in the 2009 model as well.

has always been yes, but what's to come remains to be seen, remember they almost made a 4 cylinder front wheel drive Z in 2000 (thank god they came to their sences), the z always had a forward tilt hood till the z31 came out in 84, the Z always had angled gauges mounted int he center of the dash till the Z32 came out in 90, the z always had a flat rear panel..... till the Z33 came along in 03, so you never know what you can count on to be a Z, and they are due to redesign the Z in 08 ro 09, and I have read speculation of the 4.5 v8, might not happen.......but it might

Cool that you're looking to do something different and custom.....but.....a 6 cylinder belongs in a Z car. Tradition.

Yeap...nissan has suprised us time and time again with the Z, but from the people at nissan that I have talked to, they say the 3.5 HR motor will stay in the Z for atleast 4 years (just as the DE motor did). That's the forcast....then again....like you said, they've changed things without notice many times.

And I see that we have one vote against putting a V8 in a Z. So far its 0-1 on the V8 in the Z.

I believe I have seen a similar car built by a dealer as a dealer option, I think it was at seama. this one had a different nissam V8, I believe the older 4.5l, but it had AC and all the options, and came with a dealer warranty. I think the car was like 75K, I dont know how many this guy made, this might have been the only one, but it was prety cool

Not suprised. It could have been someone at a dealership similar to mine, with flexible management that will support a project of this kind. That would be nice to see....but I want to drive one
