I am looking for someone in either Denver or Phoenix (i'm in New Mexico and equa distance from both cities)that knows Datsun differentials and could check out my 4.44 R190 that I purchased from Datsun Competition in 1971. It has a whine and would like it fixed if possible. I know parts are not available (maybe bearings are), but am hoping to get rid of the whine so I can enjoy driving the car.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the R190 just the R200 carrier and gears stuffed into an R180 case?

No, It's what Datsun Comp sold in the 70's and called a large case. It was in the Skyline and 432Z.

I have an R-190 and several years ago I needed a front seal. found this on Classic z cars.com:
R-190 L.S. rear parts- call Les Cannaday @ 760-940-6365.
Also try rubber-soul.net/side oil seals #38342-A0100
front oil seals #38332-A0100
That was quite awhile ago, may not be much good.

Yeah, Les isn't working on those anymore to my knowledge.

It's no different than any other diff - There should be a driveline shop nearby, and my guess is, the lash needs to be adjusted.
