Isn't the Z32TT diff the same unit as the Q? It has 4.08 gearing if I'm not mistaken. Wouldn't that make it a bolt in swap?

4.083 is the diff gear for the automatic 300zx non turbo as Nissan V6 needs to turn 15% higher than V8 at cruise to create enough torque for smoothness [non lugging at 50 mph AC on up normal inclines]. R200 [Q] and R230 diffs [TT] are quite different

Just do yourself a favor, and pick up the BRM 4.08.. If you want to do the swap, that is.

Way back in 2002 the zx diff swap was looked at, considered, and then dumped.

Those axle stubs are the real bugaboo in the equation. Embarassing now that it took me almost a year to figure it out. :(

Mark, if you can locate a "donor" Q45 rearend, it's a simple matter of $850 plus shipping.

Corey, where's that sig pic from?

So it's difficult to swap from the Z32? That $850 price for the 4.08 has me thinking that the work to swap the Z32 diff might be worth it. They are much cheaper. I need to remove my rear member to replace a leaking subframe bushing (hence ALL the bushings) now so it will be out of the car anyway. I guess I'll have to see what I can get a Z32 N/A diff for. My TT friends have already done the TT to N/A swap in their cars.

Hmmm...always better to buy a wheel that rolls and will bolt on than to reinvent it. Experience is education gained dearly.

Trust me...................................

If greg could have made it worked, he would of. He doesn't like spending any more money then absolutely neccasary, when it comes to aftermarket parts. You can rest assured this has been looked at, and deemed not worth it.

$850 is a kick a$$ price. Stillen sold it for over $2,500 for over 10 years...

Ok, I did a search on this & didn't find out exactly what I get for the $850. If someone could take the time to gimmie a list I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Mark

You callin' me cheap?

If so, you're right on. :D

Mark - For $850, you get a complete teardown and reassembly of your donor rearend, including Nissan ring and pinion, a custom-fabricated spacer (which cannot be bought anywhere else), special hardened longer bolts and all new seals.

Call around and inquire as to a ring & pinion swap (without any modifications or custom parts) and you'll see this is a fair price.

Shipping to CA is on you as well, I may be able to help out with return shipping.

BTW, it's not a money-maker for me or BRM... If I sell 6 I will recoup my initial costs, if I sell 10 I'll have enough to pay for the 4.08 I bought for myself...

It's the AeroPalace body kit on a 90-96 Q! Gad I love the looks of that thing... nicest kit I've set my eyes on.

Greg, how many have you sold?

You bought cores, right?

If so, any low mileage cores in the bunch?

Thanks I appreciate the info. It is a bargain. I didn't realize that someone else is doing the bulk of the work.

HD - I have a couple in the "punkin pile" that have approx 60K on them. Only sold 2 thus far, and one is mine. :)

Keep in mind mileage won't matter much as all wear surfaces and seals are being replaced.

Actually, I think that was just the ring and pinion gears. The purchaser still had to pay for installation.

That's cool, I understand what you're saying, but I'm hesitant to have a set of gears only (pinion bearing, etc, etc) installed in mine, with possible other issues in it.

Are any of them verified 90 or 91 *only* non TCS, non A, T (if the A, T, etc matters, I don't know but would rather not take any chances)

Thanks man,

I can check...

I can't imagine one having ANY issues that wouldn't be resolved by this rebuild.
