Hey guys i wanna see if the need is out here for a custom trunk on 3rd gens. I am trying to get a comapny to produce 3rd gen carbon fiber trunks.

i love the look, and love the weight reduction from carbon.

i want to get the trunk done without a center bezel. cause i saw a guy who had his center "maxima" shaved and painted to match. looks great.

so i want to get your opinions on the matter.

Who, besides myself, would be down to get a carbon fiber trunk made for their 3rd gen.

Let me know, reply like crazy please.

I drive a 5th gen, but I think the world should be flooded with aftermarket parts to keep them cheap. So yeah I'd like to see it.

While I'd love to see more aftermarket parts of all kinds available for the 3rd gen, I don't see ever wanting a CF trunk lid. Just too much money for something I don't really need.

Since the center bezel isn't a part of the trunk, you could just have them make a dead-on copy (plus whatever strengthening necessary to stand up to the torsion springs, etc.).

it would actually screw up the torsion springs a lot. You would probably have to remove them and put on some kind of small struts. Even putting a GXE trunk on an SE will make the trunk fly up because the SE has more torsion strength due to the spoiler.

I know I wouldn't want a CF trunk, but I would like to see the price of the hoods come down a notch. The CF 3rd gen hoods are super expensive.

Fiber Images is the only manufacturer of the CF hoods for the 3rd gens. You have to go thru a distributer since Fiber Images does not sell directly to the public. The price is $525 plus shipping (which runs around $170). Expect to wait about 6-8 weeks.

If you want one go to http://www.aeiperformance.com the car pictured is mine. I am very happy with my hood and I was even more happy with the service I got from AEI

I don't know about the rear deck lid. I am installing R33 tails so I couldn't use one anyway. Also there seems to be debate on having the center section molded in or not. There was a thread about having a group buy to have them made on maxima.org about a year and a half ago. I don't think it ever happened
