Hey guys,

I dropped my car off at the shop yesterday and picked it up today. I took it in because 3rd gear will occasionally grind slightly (Its very notchy compared to the other gears).

I assume is has a bad syncro, not a big deal and a fairly easy fix for the dealership to do and its covered by warranty.

The repair department manager says my clutch pedal is too stiff, the car shouldn't have been sold to me with a clutch that feels that hard and he will not repair my transmission unless I have a new clutch installed ($2200).

I've driven alot of cars and my G has the softest clutch pedal out of all of them. I can shift fine with about 3/8ths of the pedal range engaged and no other gear gives me any trouble.

Is this guy just full of it trying to make me pay for a rediculous repair job? I can put a clutch in myself.... and a lightened fly wheel... All ready priced that from Excedy for 800 for parts. So 1400 in labor? I don't think so.

This isn't the dealership I bought the car from, but that will be my next stop. Unfortuantly is 2 hours away.... but I'll take a day off to get down there and see what they'll do for me.

Just need some information / opinions to take with me.

Thanks guys,

Mike

Also, any clutch and flywheel recomendations? Almost all street here, but would like something track ready.

The bumper to bumper expired in december. It has about 42k miles on it. Its still under the drivetrain warranty.

themn its covered. the drivetrain warrenty is until 70k miles. tell them to fix it and show it up thier a$$ for screwing with you.

Go to a different dealer and also open a 'Consumer affairs report' with Nissan/infiniti. I did this when they had my car for 2 months just getting a new trans. 2 MONTHS!! I did this and they paid all my bills for one month having to do with the car. about $1000.00 worth. if you just keep going to the next guys boss some-one will get it done.

Wouldn't the clutch still not be covered? Its considered a normal wear and tear part.

I plan to take it back to the dealership I bought it from... The Infiniti dealership here in Austin hasn't impressed me in the past. Looked at a civic they had about a year ago and they gave me alot of ****.

Would a Nissan dealer do this type of stuff as well? or is it best to stick with an Infiniti deal since they have more hands on experiance with the G?
