ok so here is the the brakedown, my 3rd gen max's spoiler has kind of got annoying from its look, dont get me wrong the car is sexy with one but the holes and where it was mounted is all rusted. i was wondering what do i need to relocate the 3rd brake like and get rid of the spoiler. i would love to keep the spoiler but idk how to take it off take off the rust and put it back on.

BTW: it rattles when im driving or when i listen to music.the center part is the only part being held down

The rear parcel shelf is the same between cars with and without spoilers, so the hardware for mounting the CHMSL in the rear window is all intact. You just need the bracket and housing, then you'll have to cut out a few (pre-marked) circles in the parcel shelf trim to gain access to the bracket screw points.

I'm not entirely sure if the wiring harness is the same between spoiler and non-spoiler cars, but even if it's not you can just pull the brake light connector back from the trunk and connect it at the new location in the car. AFAIK all cars have both connectors, though. And in that case the relocation is extremely simple.

The big issue, though, is not the light, but repairing that rust damage under the spoiler. You may want to just find a used trunk without a spoiler to swap on. It will probably be cheaper than bodywork.
