What?!?!
They actually do that? Ive heard of Lasick and all that good stuff but this in intense. Is this for corrective purposes like Lasick or for something worse?
Yeah, DJ, it's a rather common surgical procedure … if you have cataracts, at least (since they form in the lens of the eye). I'm not sure what other justifications there might be for something so invasive, but I'm sure there are other medical conditions that call for it. It's gotta really suck, tho'. The natural lens in the eye is secured with musculature which allows the individual to focus vision by deforming the lens to see more clearly (the technical term is
accommodation).
I'm not sure if the musculature which attaches to the natural lens can be made to attach and control the artificial lens (my guess would be no, but I've been wrong before). From what I understand, usually cataract surgery is postponed for as long as possible (as long as there is decent vision in the eye)
I myself had Lasik eye surgery a few years ago and it's really changed my life, not having to wear glasses or contact lenses.
