Have any of you applied the 3M clear bra to your cars? I want to protect the front end since I mostly drive highway and my previous car's front end looked sand blasted after a year of interstate travel.

Opinions? Also, is there a spray on application too? Thought I read somewhere that you can spray something on and it will last for a few months.

I had the dealer put on the clear bra but am glad they did...I'm sure its saved some nicks on the car. Definitely worth it IMO.

I like it, love the sound. I'm debating doing a CAI though. Definitely a nice mod, relatively easy to install, and worth the $100 or so.

Hmmm first I've heard of this clear bra thing ?? How much does it cost and is it really visible or just a protective coating a little stronger than clear coat ?

How much did the dealer charge you if you don't mind me asking?

I think I paid about $300 - maybe a little less. I honestly forget but it was one of the options I picked during the original purchase. I was told I got it for their cost vs. the markup but who knows how true that is.

Price varies depending on if you do it yourself or someone does it for you, etc.

If you look closely yes you can see it - the one I have goes over the front bumper and partway up the hood, on the backs of the side mirrors, under the door handle (so my ring won't scratch the car), and maybe another place or two. It is something that is applied like tint I believe - so a film of sorts.

The clear bra is def worth the money. I thought about getting one for my Maxima and regret not doing it. It will save the paint from rock chips. I have a regular bra on now just to cover what I can. I actually need the whole front painted and the side molding in front of the rear wheels. The car is ate up with rock chips.

Gaming Mom.....that is an awesome price. the cheapest I could find was for $600 and that was at my dealer. Other places in Dallas wanted $800 to $1,200 so I decided to forego getting it but I wish that I would have now.

ChampagneG35........I can't tell what year your coupe is but if it is a '05 then you alread have the clear stuff she is talking about or at least I do. Maybe my dealer just put it on????? I thought it was from the factory.

Anyway, on each side of my coupe right at the front of the back wheels (side is the wheel well facing the door) there are strips of the clear bra stuff, which is to keep things from flying up from the tires I guess.

You can check and see if you have some and that will give you an idea of what it looks like and what she is talking about.

If this was soemthing my dealer did then never mind but like I say I thought it was factory?????

J-Owner is right -- the '05's have the stuff down low just in front of the rear wheel well. I was told that it was there to protect from road debris.

I opted out of getting it since I was planning to change the nose on my car anyway. However, I would suggest you get it if you are planning to leave the car stock.

Thanks good to know I got a great price. Like I mentioned the finance guy said I was getting it at their cost - woo for me!

Clear Bras are a good investment. However, I don't care for the one on the hood and fenders. At least on black. Mine started to become more visible with age. The Clearbra finish can dull slightly and the contrast between it and the rest of the hood became noticable. The bumper piece, dulls the same, but is less visually noticible. This part of the car would be the most susceptible as well. If I did it again, I'd get just the bumper and the wells behind the door handles. I had the headlights done too, but I'm not sure they really did much. As it wasn't noticable, I did leave that one on as well. The fender and hood pieces I removed.

I wish I had it done on my front bumper...I just found a HUGE paint chip. Any recomendations for touch-up paint?

For touch-up paint see the dealer. They have small tubes with a built in applicator of your car color. Very easy to use.

They sell them for $11 but if you are a VIP customer (like me ) then you can get it for free.

Frankly if you spend any money in the service department then I would argue with them until they give it to you for free.

Just my $0.02.

Hi all.... just bought my 06 G35 6MT a week ago and this is my first post!

I got the clear bra on my coupe from the dealer before I took delivery. I got a deal since I had them also tint the windows, but my cost was pretty high compared to some of the prices quoted in this thread. Ended up paying a little over a grand for mine.

I think mine turned out great though and yes, you CAN see a small line over the hood but for the most part it just looks like another layer of paint on my (black) G. I am very happy with the way it (doesn't) look.

I could see though that if it yellows it would suck though.
