I saw ad on TV for Turtle wax's new product line titled "ICE". They seem to claim many good things about it. I am however skeptical and was wondering if anybody tried the ICE line of product on their cars.

I also noticed that the local Napa parts store had numerous 3M car care products. I have worked for 3M and know for a fact they do not produce junk. Anybody tried any 3M car care product and got good result?

Regardless, I will try both lines of product on my black civic and see what sort of result I get.

yea i've tried out the ICE and it does give it a final shine at the end but it only lasted a day. i've been detailing for more than 3 years and tried out almost all the brands out there, and turtle wax is down there in the garbage. 3m is actually one of my favs when it comes to cutting and polishing with my buffer. i would also look into meguairs but they are a bit pricey. if your looking for a wax try looking into meguairs gold class wax. it gave my q45 that factory new look and shine

Alright spent a lot of time with the ICE liquid clay and 3m cleaner wax and performance finish wax.

ICE liquid clay was complete crap.. The civic had some tree sap - had a real hard time removing those.

Started using the 3m one step cleaner wax.. wow this thing must be used with a machine. I tried using it with my hand - got a real workout out of it. End product is not bad though. Removed some swirl marks.

3m performance finish wax is a great product. It's easy to put on and comes off easily. However, I like maguires nano wax better. Maguire gives a better shine.

So there you have it - I didn't like the ICE liquid clay at all - but do not know about the rest of their product line.

3M products are not bad - but not for a guy like me who wants to get a great shine without much work.

The q45 has the maguires on it from 2 weeks ago. Still shines fantastically. I will see how long the 3M performance finish last.

ICE is very nice. The reason I like it is because you can put it on anything! Trim, headlights, taillights , glass! But for detailing all I use it Ardex. Nothing even comes close to it!

Just wanna say thanks for the car wax review. I guess TurtleWax did a good marketing job on their "Ice" product since it drew attention from a few of us. I was thinking about buying and trying it myself too....

I've personally used Meguairs "Tech Wax." I think that's the name of it.... It does a pretty good job even with one coat. I usually try to do the whole detailing job at least once a year before summer on my 12 y/o car trying to save the gloss for as long as I can. This whole shbang includes 1.) claybar-ing, 2.) two coats of polishing and 3.) three coats of waxing.

I use Mother's clay bar and Mequairs for polish and wax. Lasts for a good few months. Highly recommended.

THis guy i know with a Black G35 told me to use Meguiar's Gold Class on my Q. His G35 looks amazing.

Right now I'm using some sray on wax/waterless cleaner. It's great, but it sucks when the car's hot. I had to wax it after sundown.

I'm having trouble with the pollen out here. It attaches itself to my Q something fierce. I came out one day and my black car was lime green with pollen. I have to wipe it down, everyday. Is there anything I can get to keep the pollen away, short of a car cover? I can't really park my car in a parking ot and cover it, you know?

My car is of a dark color, not exactly black. But I can TOTALLY relate to your pollen dilemma.

Not sure if it will work for you, but this kept my Corvettes from attracting dust after I waxed it:

When finished waxing, do a final cold water rinse of the whole car. Wipe dry with a clean dry soft cloth. That's it. I think the cold water rinse must remove any residual oily film left from the wax.

My cars stayed cean and dust free for a week or two after I started doing this.

If you try it, let us know how it works for you.

i waxed my car 2 1/2 weeks ago, ive washed it once since (went through the shop and got dusty and wheels were dirty - brake job) ever since i have just dusted it off and still looks like it just got waxed and still smooth to the touch.

keep in mind though, i have been doing this since i started workin (15) and have worked for Jaguar/Landrover/Aston Martin in detail and delivery. Plus i do it on the side. Ive used just about everything or work with/friends that have used products i havent.

I use all Mequiars (clay bar, paint cleaner, polish, caranuba wax and cleaner wax) products. Friends have used ICE, shine last for a day....thats it. Mequiars lasts....and lasts.... GREAT shine.

3ms compound and swirl mark remover are near the top of my list. However a good detail wont leave swirls marks.

Personal recommendations - Mequiars products, some Mothers products and Eagle one (mostly the interior shine for eagle one, lasted me months) and of course Rain-x for the windows.

How do you guys feel about the Black Magic products?

I have a bottle of some spray on cleaner that's purplish and smells like candy.

Haven't really used it on the Q though.

Are they any good?

You guys really need to check out Zaino ... it is awesome. Way better than any of the "waxes" sold in auto stores.

i use black magic tire gel. LOVE it. spray on tire shine = fail, this stuff lasts through washes. however, it will absorb dirt (as would any gel) after constant application without scrubbing the tire clean. i wipe the gel remnants off the tire once every two weeks, the tires still shine afterwords, just got to get rid of dust and ish stuck to the tire. (note: dust does not dull the tire shine, only noticeable when cleaning)
