3in. Cat Question

im thinking about buying a 3 inch cat. converter, and i was wondering if this would bolt up to a stock exhaust, or if i would need bigger flanges or something?

Stock exaust is 2.5 in I think

so the flanges would not match up i guess?

probably not, if you want the extra flow scrap the cat and weld a pipe there unless you have some emission laws where you live. I live in Nebraska and there are no enforced emissions regulations here. You could even have an exhaust shop make a pipe that will bolt on to the existing flanges.
