I've driven from the south coast of Lake Superior to Orlando (roughly 1600 miles), every city I drove through on 75 with a posted 55 limit everyone was still doing freeway speeds. I think those 55s are just posted because of state laws because you'll notice that most of those areas have the cement barrier between so cops can't easily patrol the area.joe603 wrote:lol! It's crazy....especially when the speed limit is 55 and people do 80+ in spots.
I see where you're coming from in the sense that 156mph is fast if it's not on a track, and at higher speeds it is harder to control your vehicle therefore endangering other people's lives...however, just playing devil's advocate, I don't think this guy has the intention of endangering other people's lives or not paying attention while attempting this stunt.AddictionG35 wrote:Most irrelevant part? The entire purpose of your post was to say that most wrecks happen at low speeds due to inattentiveness, not at high speeds, therefore "some of you need to chill the hell out on ostracizing people for stuff that's not as dangerous as you evaluate." They dude self admittedly did 156. I don't find that, "not as dangerous" in the slightest. Had he wrecked, it would have been a lot more than a fender bender in rush hour stop-n-go traffic cause he was texting.
In response to that, I don't think anyone that street races has the actual intention of endangering anyones life. But in fact they are.ugaexploder wrote:however, just playing devil's advocate, I don't think this guy has the intention of endangering other people's lives or not paying attention while attempting this stunt.
Again, this is where I think people make a huge mistake or have this misconception in thinking they are a good driver so it's ok for them to street race. The unforseeable can happen, especially when travelling on a public road. Because of the high rate of speed, your reaction time is cut down by a certain %. You maybe the best driver in the world. But the mini van that failed to check his mirror pulls out in front of you while your doing 146++... no one has super spidey reflexes to avoid hitting them.ugaexploder wrote:I guess what I'm trying to say is that I will bet that this guy really is a good driver
I've actually had this happen on a few occasions (minus the 146++, more like 80-90). One of those instances lead me drifting across 4 lanes (IN SOCAL!!!), hitting the right median, then drifting back across to the left lane.G_whizz wrote:

The leaves will be better in October there! I've got to hook up with a club and go! The local SVT club goes there each year in the fall.mtdive wrote:Im in for a spirited drive.. But lets set it up so anyone on the southeast can make it, say early november. and well were at it will do this spirited drive at much lover speeds say somewhere between 20-45 mph up in deals gap. like someone stated any car can go fast in the straightways but lets get everyone together and really see who's car can handle the curves.
i would of posted the topic about deals gap/tail of the dragon but cant find it since the forums was redone. so if any admin can plz post it.
