Hi everyone, my name is Cary and I've just joined the forum. I spoke with Greg who suggested I post this up in the General Chat to start.

I've started a company called Rendered Classics to use 3D scanning and 3D printing to digitally archive and reproduce rare classic car & motorcycle parts. I can scan and reverse-engineer a lot of different parts so long as I can get my hands on them for a bit, and once they've been scanned and modeled, they’re archived for good. High-end 3D printers can produce impressive parts, and depending on the type of part, can even produce end-use pieces. At the very least, they make small-volume reproduction easier and more consistent.

I know that classic Datsuns and Nissans can be tough to find parts for, so I’m reaching out to you here to see what kinds of parts you have the most trouble sourcing and to see how I can facilitate getting some of them made. I should note that I’m focusing on non-mechanical, non-safety related parts, e.g., plastic and metal trim, switch-gear, brackets, and other miscellaneous bits. I’m basically a solo operation for the time being but I know this technology is going to make a huge difference for us car people and I want to start leveraging it to get things done.

Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions for parts that aren't being reproduced that you’re dying to get your hands on, throw them out below or shoot me a message.
