It is definitely worth the 3 grand. I think the sport package comes with that fancy rev-matching thingy too (on the manual trans of course). although i would never use it, it would be cool to have for people who never want to learn how to properly drive a stick shift (resale value).
I may have disagree with you on something though, I don't think its only the sport package that comes with an LSD. I have a 350z touring has lsd stock. i think any z (50 or 70) will come with an LSD unless its base.
btw the wheels on that 370 are hideous!!
First, those wheels are stock. The only way to change them is to buy the sport package (or other expensive aftermarket wheels).
Second, the S-shift is a neat feature. I tested one out the other day and as you downshift coming to a stop, the engine is blipped just a bit to help reduce shock to the driveline and clutch. The car knows what gear you are in. It is barely noticable and those of us with small feet who can't heel-toe, the S-Shift is a nice feature. The car is still a true 6-speed, but it can be turned off for the purest.
The car sounds great, feels great, gets up and goes great. The only draw back I saw was the side mirrors are huge, or at least look huge. Since I am undertall at 5'1", I have to put the seat further up than most and the side mirror gave me a fairly large blind spot to the 10 o'clock position. Since the pedals don't move, I was just at an odd angle with the A-pillar and side mirror and it made it difficult to see when making a left turn.
Everything about the car was spot on. I drove a demo Touring with Sport Package w/Nav. However, I would only need the Base w/ Sport Package. There is something about those 19" Rays Forged wheels that make the car perfect.
Decent rear hatch area, decent shefl storage behind the seats, ample head and hip room. The only odd design flaw I saw was the way you have to remove all of the rear carpet and floor cover to get at the spare tire. Oh, and you have to remove the BOSE Sub that is in the rear tire as well to get the tire out. But other than that, the 370 was near perfection.
I'll take mine in Monterey Blue, with Platinum Graphite a close 2nd.
