you cant send the car to the track after 250 miles and expect there not to be a problem
nissan is genuine
Na, 200 miles break in. Just the piston and ring seal that does the trick. Everything else doesn't need to break in.
You ever see how they test the motor when they build them? Full rev range. High rpms. If your engine is so delicate, why do they do it in the manufacturing floor?
Break in period is a liability thing that car manufactures don't want to have, that's why they ask you to be slow, since this is your first time with the car different driving characteristics. And not everyone is a professional driver.
Drive your car like you are going to drive it, and with caution learning the new vehicle.
BUT. Change your oil, after 200 miles, then 1000, then 3000 miles.
Must people I know don't even do this, they don't even look at the maintenance schedule.
You ask a lot of Japanese engine tuners how to break in a engine, they laugh at your face. Because most motors they build gets right on the dyno full boost. And most I have met have reliable build records.
It comes down to personal preference. But I will say this.. every time you look at your oil changes and how brown it is. It's blow-by gas, and that is because you follow your owner's manual based on it's manufactures best interest. Not yours.
And, boy, do I love the color of my oil when it comes out.
