Can anybody shed any light on why my central locking is misbehaving in cold weather please? Sometimes it just won't unlock the car (usually when the temperature is below freezing), and sometimes, it will unlock the car, but won't allow me to close the door, it just bounces open like the mechanism isn't catching. I know it's all linked due to the frameless window design, but what is causing the problem, and how can I prevent it? Also, is this common, or just my car? Help...

Haven't heard much about that. Are you sure ice isn't in the door latch?

No, it's not ice... it's something affecting the electrics. I've never experienced it before. I had the 350z previously and that was fine. I can open the door with the key, but then the alarm goes off, and I have to start the car to deactivate the alarm. Not ideal at 5:45am every morning.

Oh, I think I understand. Either the locking actuator is going bad (possible because solenoids can be affected by the cold) or the receiver is not picking up the key. Do the lights flash when you hit the button to unlock?

No flashing at all, it does nothing. I've even tried the spare key fob thinking maybe it was due to a low battery, but that doesn't work either. Some days it's absolutely fine, but when it's really cold weather I can pretty much guarantee it will play up.

Huh. Is it still under warranty?

I'd suspect the key receiver to be acting up.

Unfortunately not, it's a 2010 plate. I'll have to take it into Nissan, but I was hoping somebody might have experienced the same and be able to shed some light.

Before I took it in to Nissan, I'd definitely try to reprogram the key fob.

Be sure the doors are locked before you start.

Thank you, I'll have a look at this.
