Before my daughter brought her 2000 Infiniti Q45T in for bodywork repair there was a check engine light on that she said had been there for a couple of months. After the repair the light wasn't on anymore. I am guessing they had to disconnect the battery while working on the car and that cleared the fault. According to the owners manuals three things can make the light come on, a loose gas cap, dropping below 3 gallons of gas in the fuel tank, or an emissions control problem. I guess what ever it was isn't there anymore. BTW, I must be searching using the wrong words, but I couldn't find any list of codes for a second generation Q45. Does such a list exist? We drove back from Colorado to southern California, traveling at 79 mph most of the way, and I didn't notice any problems with the way the engine sounded. In fact the engine is so smooth and quiet when idling both me and my daughter inadvertently tried to start it when it was already running on two occasions. We averaged 20.6 mpg, and that included a trip through Zion National Park and 20 miles of hairpin turns, with the car fully loaded with three people and all the luggage and other stuff we could cram into the car.
