360 screwed? need help

My XBOX 360 (its like 2 months-ish old) started freezing. did all of those things on microsofts website, worked for awhile, starts freezing again.

decided to look at the game i'd been playing (madden08) and the damn 360 has put a ring (kind of a hazy white color) all the way around the disc. now it says the disc is unreadable.

can i send this back to microsoft for repair? i'm pretty sure it'd still be under warranty. what about the game? anybody have any thoughts or dealt with this before?

Btw -- i'm pissed as crap, i mean its practically brand new i've had the crappy early non-progressive scan ps2 last about 40 times longer thant his.

The 360 has a 3 year warranty for the 3 rings of feath and a 1 year warranty for anything else so you are covered. Does it freeze for every game or just madden? I ask because sending your 360 off for repair is at least a 1 month wait time before its back to you.

well right now madden is the only game i have and i don't really want to buy another one in case my xbox never comes back around

I would rent a game or borrow one form a friend and be sure its not just the disc causing the lockups which does happen.

will do. my concern however is that the disc was perfectly fine, brand new. i've only ever played it on my 360. and now the disc has a white hazy ring around it. i've never even taken it out of the xbox (except when doing what microsoft said on their website).

The console will definately be covered, as will the game. Some boxes have a problem with scratching discs, and Microsoft has said they will replace all discs damaged by the systems. Call em up, it will get things moving a lot quicker than filing a claim online. I believe the number is 1-800-4MYXBOX.

it isn't one of the listed titles on the disc replacement program. kind of pissed about that.

you've got to be kidding me. they only replace certain titles? like the 360 sees which game you're playing and decides whether to scratch it or not? if I were you, I would continue calling and ***** up a storm. its their fault that the game was scratched, as it was a defect. even if the disc was some how at fault, they are responsible for the discs. keep complaining, and keep asking for someone higher up the ladder if they dont comply. sooner or later someone will bite when they realize that its MUCH easier to give you a new game to shut you up than having you bother people constantly.

Take it into Best Buy and say it was like that when you opened it. Seriously. I did that without my receipt for my Elder Scrolls Oblivion and they didnt say anything.

well usually the policy is not to take anything back without the receipt, but hey, if they take it back, all the power to ya. although if they do, they'll probably only let you pick up a copy of the same game.

though i can't figure out how to kill that guy shooting at you in the food court on dead rising now...

That part is a *****. You pretty much have to get a gun. I had the sub machine gun, which you can find in the fountain in the North Plaza. It really helps. Just stay back and fire at him. Once he gets hit you have to wait for his animation to finish before he can take damage again, so dont spray him. Keep trying and eventually you will have it.
