I believe you Tim, don't get all up in a huff man! I just never got any better than the upper 20's on the stock ECU, regardless of how conservatively I drove.
I have an Innovate motorsports wideband, and with it I'm able to program the outputs. What I'm thinking about doing is fooling the ECU into thinking it's richer than it is when it's in closed loop so that I can get even better mileage.
I need to get to the dyno first though...
