Went out to the dyno today with my MSD 6A installed. No more misfire. YAY!

1.05kg/cm2

1.0kg/cm2

I was so happy to hit 350whp at 14psi. Esp since it was about 80* out. It was in the high 70s last time I dynoed 351whp at 16psi.

Info about my setup is here http://www.ka-t.org/cory.htm And this is on a 141k stock block KA24DE and on 93 octane pump gas. The car is DAILY DRIVEN at 14psi.

Rock on Cory, what do you think about the MSD ignition.

Nice! What are your end-goals in regards to power?

I made 338whp last time at 14psi. And I made 351whp at 16psi. So.... the MSD helped.

I checked compression yesterday and its still perfect.

I'd like to do 400whp on a stock block KA.

That's a really nice dyno chart: the linear gain must be sweet to drive. And aside from the GZ manifold, which I suspect is quite a help, it's not an overly expensive build for great power on a stock block.

Good stuff.

Edit: Wow, and it still looks like there's alot more you can do to eek more power out without increasing boost still to do. Keep going.

He'd have to upgrade the turbo before even thinking about pushing those limits. At which point he should sell me the turbo for cheap. <3

What kind of driving do you do, how often, and how hard?

I thank you for pioneering the potential of the stock block.

I drive it pretty hard. I usually boost three-four times a day.....and I drive 2 miles on most days.lol

But I do usually 2 80 mile drives a week going to my recruiter or somewhere with my GF. In which case, I do a lot of boosting messign with people or whatever.

Beyond the stated stock block goal, do you ever plan on finding the horsepower peak of that particular powerplant in the future? I'd like to find someone who is going absolutely balls to the walls with power so I can sit down and have a chat with that invidual.

Awesome numbers...

How's the car feel/handle with stock suspension when making that much power?

As always, nice numbers!

I guess I missed it, but what kinda spark issues were you having before the MSD?

Suspension isn't "Completely..." stock, I do have Tein S-Tech springs on it and pilot STBs.lol Other than that, I like how the car feels.

And if you look at my graph on my KA-T.org page, the 351whp@16psi graph, it has a big section missing. That is all spark missing.

Looks like you might be picking up some knock or having ignition issues around the 4400 RPM mark. Although for a graph with no smoothing that thing is pretty smooth.

Nice job! Looks like a lot of nice quality parts went into the build thus far. It'll be interesting to see how the car (engine) does as you progress towards your 400hp goal.

I was thinking the same thing. But I think it is just lack of timing in that area+11:1 AFR. I'd imagine Scott didn't want to add a lot of timing midrange like that due to that being where PCP takes place and this being a pump gas tune/mail order. And I also took 2* timing out of base when I techtom'd it back in April of last year. I think if it were detonation that the car would have blown up by now tho. I highly doubt the KA would take detonation on a daily basis at this power level.

True, what kind of VE mods do you have? That graph looks particularly strong on the top end for a KA.

Actually ... well it does only go to 6500 RPM

Only thing I have is a GZ manifold. Stock cams, stock IM, no porting. Unopened engine really(unless you count valvecover/oil pan).

I pull some fuel up high tho with my SAFC. I just haven't been gutsy enough to pull that much midrange. I prolly will next time I'm on the dyno tho.

Yea I kinda wish I had told him 7000rpm now.lol But it looks like the graph is starting to significantly head south around 6500..

Car runs great. I have an Enthalpy tune, so its not all SAFC. BTW, I use an SAFC 1.

There are plenty of pointers in this forum. Just do a search. SAFC+550cc injectors has been discussed a million times.

550's can come in sidefeed and are direct replacement of stock injectors. and yes it has been discussed a million times and i doubt there was no results
