351 cleveland

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

I'm putting a 351 ford v8 big block into my 91 240sx hatch and was wondering about it transmission wise and fitment. how well would it fit . gonna be sliding it not really worried about going fast. the dimensions are 24*** length 25 width 29 height and I won't be rocking a hood since I'm to lazy to make one and it will be a track only car

Man, don't get me wrong those are sick motors if built right, but you could probably do much better with an ls or sbc motor. The ford big block is a heavy beast, and the dimensions are pretty spread out compared to the chevrolet 8 cylinder motors.

I would but money is an issue, I got the motor for free came out of an old *** truck and the transmission blew out on it the motor only has like 100,000 miles I just need to find a new transmission hopefully a 3 speed or 4 speed. I'm not worried about not having a hood since if I did I probably would have issues seeing over this beast and the measurements are without the carb too. has anyone ever done this swap I'm worried there won't be enough room especially after headers

sell the engine... depending on the year... a cleveland block is worth a **** ton... i would know i have one from a mustang. beast of a motor, and i dont think it would fit anyhow.

If it's just a matter of the 351 having a higher deck height then the 302 it will fit fine. But I'm not that up to speed on the Ford motors. Is the Cleveland block that much different then the Windsor as far as dimentions, cause the Windsor fits fine.

it came out of like a 70 something truck, fitment is all I am worried about it doesn't look like it would clear the frame rails but I'm gonna take a cherry picker and place is inside of the bay to see if it clears. I'll find out the rest of the info when I talk to my friend

honestly u can get a 350 sbc with 400hp for around $600. id sell it, cause those ford guys will pay a good amount for what u got now. its an cheaper swap and way easier to do. if your stuck on the 351, i'd get a world class t-5 or tko 5 speed, both are decent 5 speeds.

the 351 cleve may seem like a good idea cause youy already have it but have you actually priced seriously modding this engine. i come from a strong back ground in fords and one of my best friends is running a 351m in his maverick yas it is very strong but finding parts is hard and like i said they are rediculously expensive. save your money and run a small block im not a chevy guy but the 350 is the cheapest v8 to build it will sve you money in the long run and its super easy to get parts.

as far as auto trannys go you have the c4,5, and 6 whichare all good 3spd autos, the aodeis the 4 spd auto. with a imuput shaft and bell housing kit you can use a gm turbo 350 3 spd trans which takes like 20 to 30 less horse power to run then the ford transmission. ford autos sap hp and are not the best geared in the world. also gm has a 200 r4 i know the 700 is stronger but the 200 has the same gearing as a turbo 350 but with a overdrive gear. art car has some nice 200r4s

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the 351 Cleveland has bigger heads than the 351 Windsor. 351 Windsor fits clean in 1st gen Mustangs, but the 351 Cleveland requires some modifications to the shock towers...

I've never seen anyone fit either of the 351's in a s chassis, but I have helped put both in my dad's 79' explorer, and its just a big motor in general, I'm sure if you mod the shock towers and build your own headers and other things, it could be pretty sick, and as far as a transmission goes I've only seen the c4 and since your planning on drifting I don't think you would want an auto.
