I have some stock 350Z rims/tires installed on my 92 NA and one of the rears has a leak so I need to replace it but my question is, the current size is 235/50, and the RE040's are expensive as hell... can I get two 225/50's to replace my rears?

Sure. However, I'd put them on the front and bring the 235/50 to the rear.

Sorry I meant, can i do 225/50 all around.... I'm not sure if the rear rims are actually wider than the front rims since the rear tire sizes are 235/50's....

how wide are the wheels? some of the 350z's had a staggered wheel width (sounds like your did too) and so did the Z32 turbo's, a 225 fits a 6.5-7.5 wide wheel, if your wheel is wider than 7.5 the 225's are gonna be stretched and limiting your contact patch, be sure the wider wheels stay on the back, I see a lto of people running tires too narrow for their wheels, I would think this to be undsafe but it seems a lot of people do it just don't expect exceptional handling from an ill fitting tire

also be sure to check tirerack.com and tires.com for tires taht are the correct size, you might find a decent deal
