I'm trying to find out the length of the 350Z starter. Especially from the mounting point to the bottom of it. I need it for the engine mount on my VQ swap 240sx. It would be great if someone can take a snap of it with a tape measure or something.

Thank you very much.

I've noticed that 350Z members are usually not technically savvy. Never really got a good reply.

Anyway, I found some pics on the internet and the estimated length (from the mounting point) is no more than 5 inches.

That's funny if we are not "usually" tech savvy then why bother asking. First of all you said VQ is that a DE or HR. What year is the swap engine? And third why not just go to a dealership and measure it and see it for yourself in person. We are not savvy enough to keep tape measures in our car.

He bags on 350z members, asks a question anyways, and answers his own question at the same time...

Dealership works the same hours I work. That's a pain to drive 40 miles to get there.I was hoping to get some quick answers if I could, the time is short to make decisions, the swap has to be done ASAP.

As for answering my own questions, that's because I actually KNOW the answer at that point. If someone googles, they'll find someone actually being helpful.

And no, I still don't think most people in the 350Z forum know jack **** about thier own cars other than dealer flyers and wheel size. But I know some real tech guys own 350Zs so I was hoping they'd answer.

FAAAAAAAAAIL. I thought you had the brochure memorized and knew more than everyone at the dealership.

Even with the smallest sized REAR rotor size is 12.1 inches , chances are a 15" wont clear the brakes calipers.

Also, the "fastest" rim would be the lightest weight rim possible, so it could be 17, 18, 19, 20. Chances are it will be a 17 - 18 set up. That's why people buy Rays wheels, or Works.

My RX-8 didn't even clear 16" on the front, but that was a manual.

I got only estimate from the pics on the internet. the clearance is so close even 1/4" would make a no or a go.Right now, my fabbed engine mount is 5.25" from the starter mount on the oil pan. That's after I shaved off some extra metal on the engine mount. It doesn't clear the KA starter from the 240sx. I hope the 350Z starter is shorter.
