350z Roadster vs. G35 Coupe?

I bought my son a 04 G35 coupe 2 months ago. He obviously loves it and so do I. I am in the process of looking for a fun ride for this 43 yo and have been looking at the 350z roadster. I have always wanted a soft top and the z and the coupe are very similar. My question is just how similar? The 350z message boards and reviews are not as good as the coupe reviews and boards.

Nagging tire issues and dealer concerns seem to abound for the z. Is this just an Infiniti dealer vs. a Nissan dealer? Are there major parts differences? Anyone that is in the know, please help me out. Prices are close to the same (give or take a couple k) The new 07 will be out in a few months, but I am looking to buy sooner than later.

the 350z and g35 are the same car with a different body...when i worked on a 350z the other day i was amazed at how much they were the same

I thought the g sat on an altima chassis thus being a few inches longer?

Not sure about the sedan, but the coupe has a very beefy section of metal under the rear shelf. Probably the same as the Z.

I didnt know that. Would it even be worth getting the rear tower bar then. I saw a package that sold the front and rear but it was a little pricey. Do us 06' G owners only need the front tower. And does the rear tower bar have any affect on this beefy section? This info is good to know. Thx
