Just saw the first 350Z Roadster convertible) in Phoenix. Up at Midway Nissan, on their big display platform. Has some God-awful chrome rims on it, but all in all it looks OK. I'm not terribly fond of the looks with the top up...
Aslo, I spent some time playing with the new Z (coupe). I'm not a fan. For starters, I don't fit. I'm only 6'1" or so, but my head touches the headliner - only way to prevent this is: A. Shave my head B. Recline the seat C. Buy the convertible. Not good. Shame on you little short Japanese designers!
I'm also not pleased with the silvery material they used for the seat inserts... Very 80's. All the controls fall right to hand as they should, but I just didn't feel right in it - The pedals are all shifted too much to the right, and people with larger than size 10 feet will not be happy.
There are a couple other little things that need improvement - The little hatch in the dash that opens like a garage door? Very flimsy, and doesn't close flush. Feels cheap when you're opening/closing it. Also, the sunroof only has a fabric cover to keep the heat out - No solid sliding cover like the Infiniti has....
I'm sure it's fast, and probably handles wonderfully, but I was not impressed with the interior F&F OR the exterior styling. I'll stick with the G35 Coupe as the hands-down winner.
