 I've been auto-xing a 2003 350z track for about 5 years and want to replace the factory LDS. Just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what type works best. Thanks for any help.

While I'm not currently running one, I'm a big fan of the Quaife lsd. I've driven a Z with one and it's the diff that feels most transparent and similar to the factory viscous unit. It gets the power down without the sudden lockup of a traditional lsd and it's a world of difference on corner exits.

I'll see if I can think of someone that's got one and they can give a better, long-term review in the Quaife diff.

Welcome to NICO! :badger

Thanks for your input. I noticed in the last few events, that on a tight fast turn, the wheel on the high side was spinning until the car settled down. Then I could go like hell, but time was lost. It seems like the factory viscous just doesn't cut it anymore. ( Go Badgers!)

I installed a quaife on my 370z and it was one of the best mods I made for autox. The corner exit is insane, my first year I ran in STR and this past season I was in asp but it definitely dropped my time.

The quaife sounds pretty good. Any problems with the install ?

I had a local nissan dealership do the diff. But a few weeks later I popped the rear diff bushing. So I would replace that with a whiteline bushing or an SPL solid busing. That was a huge pain I the a$$ but well worth it. The spl bushing is pretty loud for daily use so I would sugest the whiteline bushing since it's polyurethane. Also replace the ring gear bolts, side bearings, and axle/Input shaft seals too.

i actually ordered a quaife atb from z1a years ago, along with the install kit of recommended parts (ring gear bolts, shaft bearings, output shaft seals etc.)

..the only catch is I haven't installed it yet. Hoping to this coming spring, maybe.

The bad part about the vlsd is that it pretty much turns into an open diff through time and normal wear.

oh and i have driven a Z with a solid diff bushing and 4.08 gears, kinda rough but I liked the noise. Kinda felt like a raw racecar.

Yha mine is pretty bad, I also have SPl suspension too, so my 370 rides pretty loud. I stay away from from 40 and 65 mph as those speeds for some reason whine more.
