hey my friends 350z goes in limp mode constantly after supercharger install. all wires were triple checked, there is no vacuum or boost leaks, it used to happened after a few miles but now since its warmer outside it starts on initial start, where we cannot rev it past like 4500rpm, we replaced the MAF and it still has problem, next we were told it could be a possible 02 sensor issue, we are going to work on that next but this is a 04 z with like 40k miles how can it be the 02 sensor ? anyone have any input on this issue ? the only thing i can think of doing it changing the vortech split second box, also the plugs look awesome

I have a thought or two on the subject. First of all, we have a Z here with an add on supercharger that normally runs like a bat out of heck. Problem is that it would go into limp mode if it were to tach over 5 grand. We did the MAF and a pop off valve but it still does it.

For some reason i get a red flag when i look at the setup of this thing. With the superchargers i have seen, the MAF would go before the supercharger, not after it. Is it possible that the supercharger is pushing too much air past the MAF for it to handle? In other words, the volume of air flowing past the MAF is beyonf its programed range causing it to go into limp mode.

How many other people are having this problem and has anyone figured out a fix for it.

Yeah, maf position seems to cause problems from time to time. They are very sensitive to the point where some Maxima owners (with the same VQ35DE) had to replace their maf within months of installing an aftermarket intake.

The question posed from the prior poster was the location of the MAF. Before or after the SC.

Stop guessing at what might be causing your problem, go to pepboys or advanced auto and get the car scanned. Then at least you will have an idea of where to start, because the car could be going into limp mode for any number of reasons. Good luck.

Scanning it will not tell you anything about whats going on with it. It does not set a check engine light or store any codes when it goes into limp mode.

Update.....

We have been in contact with the people at Vortec and, as per their instructions, removed the black box today (yes, there is a vac line that goes directly to the box) and are shipping it to them since they think it may need to be reflashed. Ill let you know how it turns out once we get it back and reinstalled in the car.

Well it seems that StricNyne found a code P0335, which is for a faulty crank position sensor.

Not sure on a price, I would just give the dealer a call. Yeah I used to have a 1993 slc, it was awsome, but now I'm driving a Golf R32 untill the next gen 350z arrives. Good luck fixing your friends Z.
