Hey guys I have a 2007 350z. Im wanting to put an exhaust on it BUT i dont want to spend over a grand putting some expensive exhuast system on it.

I've put exhaust on other cars before, just went to the muffle shop and had them do aluminum pipe then whatever muffler I wanted.

So, the question is, what would be the best and most cost efficient way to do this.

How big should I go on piping?2 1/4? 2 1/2? 3'?

Also, what mufflers do you guys suggest? I dont like a raspy sound, im more into a deep throaty sound.

Thanks!!!-Josh

Glad to see another Knoxville guy on here. What color is yours and I will look for you around town. As for your question I have the Nismo exhaust on mine and absolutely love it! It is exactly like the stock sound but much louder and deeper! I know you said that you don't want to spend a lot of money but try and look on ebay for some good deals. Remember the old saying that you get what you pay for, so try and keep that in mind. It might cost more up front, but it will pay off in the long run.

Try and avoid piping above past 2.5 in. Unless you've got a turbo you'll suffer a loss of torque.Borla has a pretty decent deep sound.

If you self fabricate don't go too much larger tna stock tubing, unless you have another major Mod ( like FI) that may need that.

You may lose some torque otherwise and the ECU may get too confused when balancing the in/out of air (I know not all will agree w/ this)

Also keep in mind the stock unit actually flows real well. the biggest advanaatge of going aftermarket can be the lighter weight, a purpose which you will likely defeat if going self fabricated.

If buying an exhaust I am partial to the DC Sports/ AEM true dualexhaust.

Going to a true dual is interesting IMO adds a little snob appeal w/o breaking the bank and set you up for future FI

For n/a applications on the 350z, 2.5" is enough. Had the Greddy on my 03 and the nismo one's not bad either. The greddy evo2 is a true dual cat-back exhaust, looks nice, and is quiet until you get on it.

People are getting great HP gains with the Stillen exhaust. It sounds good too IMO.

fairly old thread is fairly old, but its an idea ive started kickin around some lately too, and i didnt feel like creating another exhaust thread.

ive been checkin out different clips, & for the money have really liked the invidia gemini setup. ive dug around a bit & all i can really find is info/clips on 370z applications. from what ive heard, its a nice balance. not too high-strung, not too much like a truck.

thoughts?
