350Z engine dimensions?

i was trying to find out what the height lenght and width of the 350z car engine is? i want to do a swap into my old datsun.

this gy put one in an S30, the distance between the wrframe rails on the 240 is about 24 inches, looks to be about as wide as the frame rails maybe a bit wider, should fit in your 411http://www.vq240z.com-a.googlepages.com/

Doesn't matter HR or VQ. They are both the same size block.

ok i want the vq35de but i want to know the length width and heigth before i spend the $$$$

width has been covered, the length is most likely less than your L16 (I assume you have an L16), height should also be a non issue, the early datsuns had rather vacuous engine bays, and I moved your other post tot he datsun section

i got the measurements for the vg30dett online and its to tall and to long, thats wht i was verry concerned. anyone know where the cheapest place to buy engines like the vq35de is?

the VG30DETT is a massive motor, the heads are huge, and then you haave those turbo's moutned low which makes steering and mounts a PITA

here is what I found from a post by scott c on hybridZ"(With the motor sitting on a flat concrete floor)- 29" from the floor to the top most point on the rear of the intake manifold (near the throttle inlet)- 26.5" from the floor to the top of the front of the intake manifold (closest to the timing chain)- 35" from the back of the block to the center of the stock trans shifter location (this could be shortened by modifying the shift linkage a couple of inches).- about 24" wide (+/- 1" since i was just eyeballing this measurement) without catayltic converters bolted up.

Other things to know is that the oil pan sits towards the front of the engine, and not much deeper than the rest of the block/bellhousing (about 2" deeper). Also - the AC pump is run a seperate belt. The serpentine belt runs the other accessories (PS, Alternator, waterpump). The power steering pump could easily be removed and just use a shorter belt in a non-PS car."so my 24" wide was pretty accurate

i spent about an hour looking and looking and the only things i could find are at least 2 years out dated.... try posting a WTB in the classifieds forum... also go into the engine specific forum for the vq motors and mention it there...
